KORG - NAUTILUS

It's Korg's new, little, armada and it's coming in three different sizes.

The Nautilus is modern workstation and performance - machine, which is offerning nine different synthesis - engines, arpeggiator - and drum - track function, MIDI - and audio - sequencer (sixteen tracks, each), sampling - options that are allowing external sources to be sampled or re - sampling of Nautilus - sounds or the import of different formats, through USB / ethernet, sixteen effect - processor (12 insert, 2 master and 2 "total") plus equalizer for every track.

Very useful, is the "Smooth Sound Transition" - function. When changing a sound or switching from program - mode to combi - mode, fading sounds won't be cut.

Nautilus has a touch - display and few controller.

The 88 - key version, is coming with a weighted hammer - action keyboard, while the 73 - key and 61 - key versions are using a semi - weighted keyboard.

Synthesis - engines:
°SGX - 2: Premium Piano
°EP - 1: MDS Electric Piano
°CX - 3: Tonewheel Organ
°HD - 1: High Definition Synthesizer
°MS - 20 EX: Legacy Analog Collection
°Polysix EX: Legacy Analog Collectiion
°AL 1: Analog Synthesizer
°MOD - 7: Waveshaping VPM Synthesizer
°STR - 1: Plucked Strings

For more details, take a look at the specifications, at Korg's website.

KORG - MODWAVE

It's some kind of a reminisence, to the DW - 8000 by Korg.

The DW - 8000 was based, on digital waveforms. Unlike the Modwave, they can't be played dynamically like the wavetables of this new instrument. But they're implemented, in the Modwave.

The DW - 8000 had only sixteen waveforms. The Modwave is containing more then 200 wavetables, with up to sixtyfour waves. You can import custom wavetables.

It's a polyphonic instrument (32 voices), with two oscillator (us sub - oscillator), two layer, motion sequencing (four lanes), four envelopes, dual modulation - processor, a lot of different filter - types, an inbuilt sample - library, five LFO, a playful x / y - controller (Kaoss Physics), more than 30 modifier, thirteen morphing - algorithm, phase - synchronised wavetable - blending (A / B Blend) and a lot of effects.

Specification:
°32 voices (stereo).
°2 layer.
°4 envelopes.
°5 LFO.
°2 mod - processor.
°2 key - track.
°Seq Lanes (A - D).
°Step pulse.
°Tempo.
°Program - / performance note - count.
°Program / performance voice - count.
°Poly legato.
°Velocity.
°Exponential - velocity.
°Release - velocity.
°Gate.
°Gate + damper.
°Note - on trigger.
°Note - on trigger + damper. °Note - number.
°Aftertouch and poly - aftertouch (external MIDI only).
°Pre - FX (decimator, graphic EQ, guitar - amp, modern compressor, parametric EQ, red compressor, ring - modulator, tremolo, wave - shaper).
°Mod - FX (black chorus / flanger, black phase, CX - 3 vibrato chorus, EP chorus, harmonic chorus, modern chorus, modern phaser, orange phase, Polysix - ensemble, small phase, talking modulator, vintage chorus, vintage flanger, vintage / custom wah, vox wah).
°Delay (L / C / R delay, multiband mod delay, reverse delay, stereo / cross delay, tape echo).
°Master reverb (early reflections, overb).
°Master EQ (4 - band parametric EQ).
°Filter types (MS - 20 LP or HP, Polysix LP, full collection of resonant 2-pole and 4-pole LO, HP, B, and Band Reject filter, multi - filter).

The Circuit Tracks, by Novation, is available now.

It's an groovebox, with two polyphonic synthesizer - tracks, four drum - tracks and two polyphonic MIDI - tracks, to control external instruments.

The internal sounds are digitally generated, but you can load samples via micro SD - card.

The sequencer is allowing, to create pattern with 32 steps, which can be chained to sequences with up to 256 steps.

The Circuit Tracks has in - built effects (reverb / delay), is allowing micro - timing, propability and "pattern mutate".

Also, audio - input and an rechargeable built - in battery.

There are three "classic" MIDI - connections (DIN / 5 - pole). MIDI - in / - out / - thru, which very cool.

But, the Circuit Tracks, can be powered only through USB, which is not so cool.

The Circuit Tracks, can be edited through a synth - editor, using a computer.

Specification:
°2 polyphonic sequencer - tracks.
°4 drum - tracks.
°2 MIDI - tracks.
°32 RGB backlit, velocity - sensitive pads.

BEHRINGER - POLYEIGHT

A few days ago, Behringer was revealing their proptotype, of a clone, of the Polysix by Korg.

But it's named Polyeight and Behringer confirmed, that they were adding two more voices. The Polysix had six voices, as the name is suggesting.

And we can see, that there are a few more features, compared to the original. There is a display, a noise - parameter, more waveforms for the LFO, portamento, a new key - assign mode, aftertouch - velocity.

There is the "classic" - MIDI trio (DIN / 5 pin), which is very cool, USB for modern needings and, of course, the obsolete tape - connector (for saving and loading patches) is missing.

Unfortunately, there is a cooling - fan and the keyboard has a range of four octaves (the original has five octaves).

Date of availabilty and price, are unknown, at this date.

Here is the original posting, from Behringer.
