Xiaomi decided to commit suicide and bricked all of its gray import smartphones with HyperOS 3 update.
If by any chance you have a Chinese phone with global firmware (or just suspiciously affordable Xiaomi and POCO), do not update your phone. And disable automatic updates.
The phone now checks the real region and the one the device was aiming for. And locks it into an infinite loop if they don't match. Some users were able to fix the issue by quickly manually rebooting the phone over and over at least 7 times. Then it rolls back to the old system.

Surprise: Apple just decided to go lower since the hardware prices are mad. Their new baby-macbook, called Neo is based on iPhone CPU and 8GB of RAM. And starts at just $599.
1080p camera, good speakers with Dolby Atmos, 2 x USB Type-C, headphone jack, fancy colors, 16 hours of battery life. And even the screen is 2408 x 1506, which is far better than cheap laptops offer.
The RAM will be a limiting factor, but come on, $599...

You may not know, but olds remember: Intel once released x3D CPUs and it was ages before AMD. Back then the tech wasn't as good, but I was thinking to get one!
The i7-5775C has 128MB of L4 cache, that heavily improved gaming performance. Basically the same way as x3D on Ryzen. But the issue was the frequency limit β even 4770K could aim higher in some cases and Intel 6000 was already way ahead with old-fashioned L3.

RAM manufacturers started to fake 2x kits by using one real ram and one plastic filler (which can be installed and has RGB but no memory modules). Technically, it's all written on the box, but people will definitely fall for this scam.

NVIDIA wasn't doing great on Linux for ages but recently they built a team to fix it and also gathered some people from the community. And several distros were doing fixes too.
Eventually, it worked out: the 5-30% gap in performance is no longer the thing. Even the first step already gave users up to +12% of gaming performance in the new Ubuntu 26.04. About 20% more and it will get the parity with Windows π«

So, a few days ago I got a very good offer and bought Samsung S24 Ultra. Super fast, 7 years of software updates, not getting hot in games, but has pre installed garbage to remove.
The camera is beyond amazing. Log video up to 4K@120FPS (8K@30) with perfect optical stabilization, zoom between x0.5 and x10, night photos.
Elephant in the room: a lot of AI, especially at night or extreme zoom. Despite 200MP main sensor (and two 50MP) it relies on algorithms a lot. Cool stuff: upscaling even for screenshots if needed, objects removal that actually works (unlike on iPhone)
A lot of that can be disabled in settings, I suggest to switch off "scene detection" and set "intelligent optimization" to minimum. For deeper "native" photography there are apps in Samsung App Store to disable even more.
And there's S-Pen stylus: nice to have, too small to use for real.
