Yet another new year surprise: the retail version of Intel B580, that was initially sold out in its first day, suffers from driver overhead. The card works horribly bad with older CPUs, not because it has to, but because there's something terribly wrong onβ¦
Another incredible Intel-related story: Vulkan apps with certain names can increase memory usage. For example, Mosaic makes an app consume 400mb instead of 35mb.

And according to Bloomberg, Intel is planning to fire 21 thousand people next week, mostly management staff to link departments and teams closer to each other.
They already fired 19 thousand about a year ago. And by the end of 2024 they've had 108 000 workers left.

Intel now has a horrible credit rating, which affects any possible investments and further financing of their factories and overall production plans.
It's a big issue for consumers: if we will end up with mostly AMD, they will make pricing worse and will not evolve as fast as they did in the era of competition.

And somehow Intel is making a comeback (again), focusing on cool GPU stuff:
β XeSS3 with multi-frame generation
β Handheld CPUs for gaming
β Xe3 Architecture

You may not know, but olds remember: Intel once released x3D CPUs and it was ages before AMD. Back then the tech wasn't as good, but I was thinking to get one!
The i7-5775C has 128MB of L4 cache, that heavily improved gaming performance. Basically the same way as x3D on Ryzen. But the issue was the frequency limit β even 4770K could aim higher in some cases and Intel 6000 was already way ahead with old-fashioned L3.

It took Intel a few years to finally outperform Ryzen 5800x3D in games. Their main advantage is the affordable price but even tons of cores can barely compete even with 7800x3D.
Though they're doing good in some productivity tasks. 250K Plus and 270K Plus are generally OK-ish but that's not a silver bullet for Intel. Overall everyone agrees that these results were supposed to be in 2024 Ultra Core lineup.
