TSMC is now more expensive than NVIDIA, Samsung and AMD
The market capitalization of the largest semiconductor manufacturer has grown on the back of success in conquering new technological processes. Now Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, where NVIDIA and Apple make their chips, was valued at $306 billion…
Despite the previous cancellation of the showcase event, #Samsung announced its most powerful mobile processor with #AMD #RDNA2 graphics, that supports #Raytracing!
Previously, only #ImaginationTechnologies have had mobile RT-cores, but this one is nearly the same as the desktop equivalent RDNA, that you can find in last gen consoles, including Valve's Steam Deck, PS5, and Xbox Series:

Sometimes I discover old shots made with Xiaomi Mi5 and it was unmatched. Look at this tiny piece of the image (you can see the zoom on the right). All details are preserved, the materials are correctly rendered, and no sharpening or odd color representation…

So, a few days ago I got a very good offer and bought Samsung S24 Ultra. Super fast, 7 years of software updates, not getting hot in games, but has pre installed garbage to remove.
The camera is beyond amazing. Log video up to 4K@120FPS (8K@30) with perfect optical stabilization, zoom between x0.5 and x10, night photos.
Elephant in the room: a lot of AI, especially at night or extreme zoom. Despite 200MP main sensor (and two 50MP) it relies on algorithms a lot. Cool stuff: upscaling even for screenshots if needed, objects removal that actually works (unlike on iPhone)
A lot of that can be disabled in settings, I suggest to switch off "scene detection" and set "intelligent optimization" to minimum. For deeper "native" photography there are apps in Samsung App Store to disable even more.
And there's S-Pen stylus: nice to have, too small to use for real.
