On August 9, South Africa celebrates National Women’s Day
On August 9, 1956, there was a march on the Union Buildings of Pretoria. Over 20,000 women of all races attended the march in order to protest against the Urban Areas Act of 1950 amendments. This law required all South Africans defined as “black” to carry an internal passport that served to maintain segregation, control urbanization, and manage migrant labor during the apartheid.

On Saturday, 16 March, during the annual Cape Town Carnival spectators can look forward to more than 1000 performers from various communities across the province taking part in the festivities. It is also known that the organizers provide a safe space for the youth, and teach them drama, arts, and indigenous music. During the media launch held on Thursday, 18 January, Prof Rachel Jafta, Cape Town Carnival chair, said the event raises the level of social cohesion.

С 1 по 7 марта в рамках Всемирного фестиваля молодежи, который пройдет на федеральной территории «Сириус» состоится музыкальный фестиваль «Молодые ветра», в котором исполнители из стран БРИКС споют дуэтами на разных языках.
В мероприятии, объединяющем представителей разных народов и культур, примут участие 20 тысяч молодых лидеров в сфере образования, науки, международного сотрудничества, культуры, волонтерства и благотворительности, спорта, бизнеса, медиа, включая 10 тысяч иностранных участников. Уже заявлены дуэты с участниками из Китая, Индии, ЮАР, ОАЭ.

BRICS music show "Young Winds" will be held as a part of the World Youth Festival from March 1 to March 7, 2024, on the Sirius Federal Territory. Performers from BRICS countries sing duets in different languages.
The event, which brings together representatives of different peoples and cultures, will host 20,000 young leaders in such fields as education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering and charity, sports, business, media, including 10 thousand foreign participants. Duets with participants from China, India, South Africa, and the UAE have already been announced.

7 марта 2024 года, в Петропавловской крепости, в музее космонавтики, состоялось открытие выставки проекта «Вселенная BRICS», в которой принял участие Почетный Консул Южно-Африканкой Республики и прочие важные гости, такие как космонавты, дипломаты, представители стран БРИКС, деятели науки, культуры и искусства.
Выставка представляет фотографии городов ЮНЕСКО, находящихся в странах БРИКС, сделанные космонавтами с борта Международной космической станции и фотографами на земле. Всего в проекте было задействовано 41 зарубежный и 48 российских фотографов из стран БРИКС и собрано 600 фотографий из разных уголков планеты.

The BRICS Universe Exhibition
On March 7, 2024, the grand opening of BRICS Universe exhibition took place at the Cosmonautics Museum in the Peter and Paul Fortress. The event was was attended by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Africa and other important guests such as cosmonauts, diplomats, representatives of the BRICS countries, scientists, culture and art figures.
The exhibition shows photographs of UNESCO cities located in the BRICS countries. It included photos taken by international photographers and astronauts. In total, 41 foreign and 48 Russian photographers from the BRICS countries were involved in the project and 600 photographs from different parts of the world were collected.

The holiday serves both as a celebration of workers’ rights and as a reminder of the critical role that trade unions, the Communist Party and other labour organisations played in the fight against Apartheid.
Because South Africa’s working classes were those most oppressed by Apartheid, the struggle for better working conditions and the struggle to overthrow systemic segregation became closely linked. Before the elections of 1994, labour and trade groups often used Workers’ Day as a symbol to rally the population against the segregation and oppression of the Apartheid system, organising demonstrations and encouraging widespread resistance.
