IELTS Band 7+
โญ๏ธPhrasal Verbs and IELTSโญ๏ธ
Phrasal Verbs can be important for IELTS as someone who can use them naturally shows that they have a good command of the English language. They can be used in writing in some cases and in spoken language.
โญ๏ธWhy are Collocations important for IELTS?โญ๏ธ
The examiner will be judging you on this. For example, here is what the IELTS public band descriptors say for an IELTS band 7 for lexis (vocabulary):
โuses less common lexical items with some awareness of style and collocationโ
So to achieve a band 7 in this criteria, not only do you need to be using some less common words, you also need to show to some extent that you know what other words these less common words are usually used with.

โ Don't say: Itโs a tiny bit boring, between you and I.
โ Say: Itโs a tiny bit boring, between you and me.
๐บ
In standard English, itโs grammatically correct to say โbetween you and meโ and incorrect to say โbetween you and Iโ.
๐บ
The reason for this is that a preposition such as between should be followed by an objective pronoun (such as me, him, her, and us) rather than a subjective pronoun (such as I, he, she, and we).
Remember: the correct expression is โbetween you and meโ
