Something odd just occurred in the commercial branch of Godot: W4 Games is shutting down their build tools for average commercial customers and sending it to open source.

Enterprise customers will become the only paid category. Which is good, but also odd. It seems like the free trial part of the tier was way too expensive for them to run.

PS. It's not related to open-source and non-profit branches, aka Godot Foundation. W4 provides services for big partners, including console porting.

The Indie Game awards kinda annoyed the audience when they awarded Expedition 33 (made by a fairly big team and huge budget) as the best indie gameโ€ฆ now they called it off because of the AI (that the team used during prototyping).

The use of AI has been widely known months before the event. And it would be way more reasonable to not qualify them as indie instead. What a clown world!

YouTube finally allows you to opt-out from awful AI-enhancements for both video and audio. It only works from the creator side of things and on per-channel basis.

Settings > Channel > Advanced settings (and scroll down)

Just to make it clear and to make it worse: back in 2022 I was using the first few versions of Stable Diffusion locally. Which was posted here and discussed with the community.

Back then several internal projects under my leadership were using AI as the experimental feature. And it was quite curious, like being among the first few smartphone users 20 years ago โ€” we were pioneers.

For example, it was used to generate faces that otherwise would be photo bashing. Then they were manually edited to add clothing and full body setups, and manually turned into 3D models (for which the image was only a guideline). But it helped with "random" faces.

But we weren't Larian or Activision. We were a few geeks, keeping it contained and local. Whatever happens now is very different: it's global, unstoppable, unsafe, and used by idiots. And it's not helping at current scope, it's stealing from literally everyone.
