Expo 2020 sends a letter of love to the UAE

Expo 2020 Dubai has written a letter of love to the UAE to show its love for the nation that will host the biggest event the region has ever seen. On 14 February, Expo 2020 will share its handwritten letter, expressing love, commitment and a shared future, with the country that has given, and continues to give, us all so much.

The UAE will welcome the world to Expo between October 2020 and April 2021, but that adventure began more than five years ago. The handwritten letter expresses the appreciation of a journey shared since Dubai won the bid to host the World Expo in 2020.

At a time of year when we emphasise our feelings towards loved ones, Expo 2020 wants to show its gratitude to a country that makes the impossible possible. Expo 2020 holds the key values of the UAE close to its heart: tolerance, understanding and working together for a sustainable and shared future.

Like the shade of the ghaf tree, which has traditionally been a meeting place that sparks creativity and innovation, Expo 2020 is the future site upon which the UAE will make its mark on the global stage as an example of a tolerant society leading the way to a better future for all.

A nation of boundless aspiration and innovative ideas, not to mention the splendid landscapes and boundless things to do, the UAE is truly a warm and welcoming nation. It is no wonder more than 200 nationalities call it home.

From 20 October, 2020 to 10 April, 2021, Expo 2020 Dubai will bring the world together to create a positive impact in the UAE and beyond. In line with its theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, and three key subthemes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability, the World Expo will bring the world together for a six-month celebration of human ingenuity and progress..

About World Expos
In 1851 the Crystal Palace was the centrepiece of London’s Great Exhibition – the first World Expo. It celebrated the man-made industrial wonders of a rapidly changing world. Architecture, contents and a theme, ‘Industry of All Nations’, were combined to create a big idea of nations meeting nations in shared technological and commercial progress. In more recent years, participants in World Expos, including governments, international organisations and companies, have gathered to find solutions to universal challenges and to promote their achievements, products, ideas, innovations, their national brand, and their nations as destinations for tourism, trade and investment. World Expos are held under the auspices of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the intergovernmental organisation responsible for overseeing and regulating international exhibitions (‘Expos’) and for fostering their core values of Education, Innovation and Cooperation. Today, four types of Expos are organised under the BIE’s auspices: World Expos, Specialised Expos, Horticultural Expos and the Triennale di Milano.

أعفت جمهورية روسيا الاتحادية مواطني دولة الإمارات من حملة جوازات السفر العادية من تأشيرة السفر المسبقة.

وأعلنت وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي، أنه واعتباراً من اليوم الأحد سيكون بإمكان مواطني دولة الإمارات السفر إلى جمهورية روسيا الاتحادية بدون تأشيرات مسبقة.

وقد صدر قرار الإعفاء، بناءً على الاتفاقية التي تم توقيعها في مدينة كازان الروسية، بحضور سمو الشيخ عبدالله بن زايد آل نهيان وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي ودينس مانتوروف، وزير التجارة والصناعة في جمهورية روسيا الاتحادية في 6 يوليو 2018، و بموجبها تم الإعفاء المتبادل لكل الجوازات من متطلبات تأشيرة الدخول لمواطني دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ومواطني روسيا الاتحادية.

وقد وقع الاتفاقية آنذاك من جانب الدولة سعادة معضد حارب الخييلي سفير الدولة لدى روسيا الاتحادية ومن الجانب الروسي الكسندر يفيموف سفير روسيا الاتحادية لدى الدولة.

وأكد سعادة أحمد ساري المزروعي، وكيل وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي أن قرار الحكومة الروسية بإعفاء مواطني دولة الإمارات من تأشيرات السفر المسبقة هو ثمرة لمجموعة من العوامل التي شجعت الحكومة الروسية لاتخاذ هذه المبادرة، والتي تعكس من دون شك مكانة دولة الإمارات وسمعتها القوية على المستوى الدولي، وقوة ومتانة شبكة علاقتها الدولية.

وتعتبر مبادرة الحكومة الروسية بإعفاء مواطني دولة الإمارات من تأشيرات السفر المسبقة إنجازاً مهماً يضاف إلى قائمة الإنجازات التي حققتها الدبلوماسية الإماراتية بقيادة سمو الشيخ عبدالله بن زايد آل نهيان كما جاء هذا القرار ترجمة للعلاقات التاريخية القوية، والتي بنيت على أسس التعاون المشترك في مختلف المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والتجارية.

Expo 2020’s innovation and partnership programme, Expo Live, has joined hands with the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), to provide a bespoke program that is set to empower young innovators, with tools necessary for the next stages in their entrepreneurial journey.

The tailored program set to begin its first session this month, is for those already enrolled in the existing Expo Live University Innovation Programme, where innovators will be mentored by Sheraa’s in-house team of experts to develop skills and strategies, that can be used within all phases of a new company’s growth. The program, which runs from February 2019 to April 2019, will provide educational sessions that include both theoretical and practical components on ideation, validation and product development.

“Entrepreneurship plays an influential role in the economic growth of a country and harnessing it can contribute to a prosperous society. We are extremely excited to support Expo Live with their goal to inspire future generations on their potential to positively impact the environment and generate real social value. Sheraa takes pride in supporting start-ups and is keen to offer solutions that directly affect productivity, wellbeing and overall contribution to the economy.” said Najla Al Midfa, CEO of Sheraa.

Participants will explore a range of topics, including market research, pitch training, story mapping, persona creation, vision & goal setting, and defining product features of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

Fatma Ibrahim, Assistant Manager – Expo Live at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “We are proud to support young innovators across the UAE through the University Innovation Programme, and this marks another significant step in their development.

“The Sheraa programme will provide invaluable knowledge and guidance to our student teams, as they develop creative solutions to global challenges that affect the region. This initiative is bringing to life the Expo 2020 Dubai theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, and we can’t wait to see what our young innovators will achieve next.”

Following the completion of this program, participants will be given a one-month period to implement what they learnt, after which, Sheraa will host a graduation day to celebrate their achievements, pitch their start-ups, and showcase their MVPs to a panel of Sheraa experts. Graduation certificates will be handed out to all applicants.

19–20 февраля Валдайский клуб в партнёрстве с Институтом Востоковедения РАН проведёт восьмую Ближневосточную конференцию.

Тема – «Ближний Восток: новый этап, старые проблемы?».

Данная конференция станет продолжением разработки темы российской политики на Востоке, которую Клуб сделал своим центральным направлением в 2019 году.

«Валдай» планирует провести в течение года целую серию мероприятий, которые будут посвящены Востоку.
