๐Ÿ”ฐSTORY OF THE DAY๐Ÿ”ฐ
๐Ÿ”ฐ17 Camels and 3 Sons๐Ÿ”ฐ

Long ago, there lived an old man with his three sons in a deserted village, located in the vicinity of a desert. He had 17 camels, and they were the main source of his income. He used to rent out camels as a means of shipping in the desert. One day, he passed away. He had left a will, leaving his assets for his three sons.

After the funeral and the other obligations were over, the three sons read the will. While their father had divided all the property he had into three equal parts, he had divided the 17 camels in a different way. They were not shared equally among the three as 17 is an odd number and a prime number, which cannot be divided.

The old man had stated that the eldest son will own half of the 17 camels, the middle one will get one third of the 17 camels, and the youngest one will get his share of camels as one ninth!

All of them were stunned to read the will and questioned each other how to divide the 17 camels as mentioned in the will. It is not possible to divide 17 camels and give half of the 17 camels to the eldest one. It is not possible also to divide the camels for the other two sons.

They spent several days thinking of ways to divide the camels as mentioned in the will, but none could find the answer.

They finally took the issue to the wise man in their village. The wise man heard the problem and instantly found a solution. He asked them to bring all the 17 camels to him.

The sons brought the camels to the wise man's place. The wise man added a camel owned by him and made the total number of camels 18.

Now, he asked the first son to read the will. As per the will, the eldest son got half the camels, which now counted to 18 / 2 = 9 camels! The eldest one got 9 camels as his share.

The remaining camels were 9.

The wise man asked the second son to read the will. He was assigned 1 / 3 of the total camels.

It came to 18 / 3 = 6 camels. The second son got 6 camels as his share.

Total number of camels shared by the elder sons - 9 + 6 = 15 camels.

The third son read out his share of camels: 1 / 9th of the total number of camels - 18 / 9 = 2 camels.

The youngest one got 2 camels as his share.

Totally there were 9 + 6 + 2 camels shared by the brothers, which counted to 17 camels.

Now, the one camel added by the wise man was taken back.

The wise man solved this problem smartly with his intelligence.

Moral:Intelligence is nothing but finding a common ground to solve an issue. In short, every problem has a solution.

๐Ÿ˜ขโ€˜I never thought it would happen to me'

Every day on her way to work, Sheila Fletcher, a senior nurse from north London, passed a group of homeless men outside the Underground. She never paid any attention until, one day, she noticed a man who seemed different from the others. 'I don't know why,' said Sheila, 38, 'but I gave him ยฃ5. When I gave him the money, he looked so vulnerable, like a little boy'

Sheila thought about him all day at work and realized that she wanted to see him again. That afternoon, he was there again and he smiled when he saw her. She didn't give him any money, but they talked for a few minutes without saying much. For the next three days, they chatted morning and afternoon and Sheila learnt more about him.

He told Sheila that his name was Akan and he came from Cyprus. He had lost his job in a shoe factory and he had lost his home at that time. He said that his friends didn't want to know him any more and he had been on the streets for eight weeks. He wanted to return to Cyprus, but he thought that he would never have the money.

On the fifth afternoon, Sheila stopped, as usual. 'It was cold and wet,' she says. I couldn't leave him in the street. I knew it was crazy to invite a beggar to my home, but I wasn't worried.' At home, they chatted for hours about their families, their lives and their interests. Much later, feeling tired, Sheila told Akan that he could sleep on the sofa, and, before going to her room, she kissed him goodnight.

Suddenly, Akan looked agitated. 'Wait,' he said. 'I have to tell you something. I know it will shock you, but I have to tell you.' With tears rolling down his cheeks, Akan told Sheila that he was a heroin addict. Sheila was angry with herself, thinking she had been stupid to fall in love with an addict. After staying awake all night, she knew that although she loved him, she couldn't let him stay with her.

The next day, Sheila took Akan to a travel agent's and bought him a ticket to Cyprus. She didn't know if she felt happy or sad that he was returning home.

To be continued....

How do you think the story ends?

๐Ÿ˜ขโ€˜I never thought it would happen to me' Part 2 (part 1)

Now read the second part to see if you were right.

A week later, Sheila went with Akan to the airport โ€˜We kissed goodbye and I thought I would never see him again,' says Sheila. โ€˜But I knew that he was sad to be leaving me, too. He promised that he would phone.'

Sheila went back to her work at the hospital and didn't hear from Akan for over two months. Then, one day, the phone rang. Akan explained that he missed Sheila and that he thought about her all the time. He said that he had given up heroin and that he had found ajob. He begged her to come and visit him.

Sheila asked her friends for advice and they all thought it was astonishing that she was even thinking of seeing him again. But Sheila couldn't imagine life without him and a few months later, she flew to Cyprus. Akan met her at the airport, and she couldn't believe how much his appearance had changed. He looked tanned and healthy, and had put on weight, so different from the homeless man she had seen outside the Underground station. He told her that she had inspired him to change his life, that he was a new man.

Sheila and Akan were married four weeks later. โ€˜I never thought it would happen to me,' she says. โ€˜But it goes to show that you find true love where you least expect it
