Я уже писала о необходимости не просто переводить с русского на английский, а стараться подбирать подходящие по смыслу collocations, т.е. выражения, используемые носителями языка (например, крепко спать, а также пожелание доброй ночи – sleep tight, крепкий мороз/заморозки – hard frost).
Посмотрим на несколько collocations, в которых не всегда совпадают числа в русском и английском языке:
📌make an effort – приложить усилия
📌make every effort – предпринять все возможные усилия
🔸Learning to speak another language takes effort. Научиться говорить на другом языке требует усилий.
🔸You should put more effort into your work. Тебе следует приложить больше усилий в сою работу.
🔸A considerable amount of time and effort has gone into this. Значительное количество времени и усилий ушло на это.
📌There was no change in the situation. Не было никаких изменений в ситуации.
📌a change for the better - перемены/изменения к лучшему
