The funny one, but I have to add context: both of them are odd in a way,

- Gabe invested into AI and with known info it seems he's aiming for eternal digital life. In the meantime, his yachts are not just for swag, he finance marine research. He is super-social, gets along with almost everyone he meets, and therefor his aura seems much friendlier. He's still very much into making as much profit as possible, just wiser.

- Tim hates yachts and was AI-hater for some time. Then last summer he invested billions into AI (when it was too late to invest). He also owns huge sanctuaries, adores nature, and do hikes every week. He is not social, not a fan of crowded places. Every public speech he makes looks like he's in pain. But he wasted half of his fortune to fight Google and Apple (and won) to make them lower the market fee. But he lost against Steam and keep missing the point of it.

Steam Machines starts at $1049/€1039 and is barely able to run high-end games. Basically, no RT, mostly 1080p — not what a living room gamer would prefer in mid 2026. Some games are deliberately targeting RT only on PC and cutting yourself out is a sad choice.

DBrand (a famous accessories company) announced their companion cube mod for Steam Machines. And it received the best preorders ever... to be taken down in a few hours when Valve figured out.

They are not against the accessories but DBrand never warned them about Companion Cube usage and it's their IP. Its design, name, and such are Valve's property.

DBrand tried to negotiate and Valve insisted that due to the initial illegal usage they now can't allow it even if certain deal would be proposed.

It took about 20 minutes for one of the first Steam Machines to get the GPU fried. To make it funnier, the errors are marked as LED-stripe on the frontal part of the device. Which reminds of the legendary XBOX Ring of Death issue but it took weeks before the first case appeared, not days.

Users can't replace the GPU alone, it's not replaceable, so they've had to ask for the replacement from Valve (and wait due to supply issues)

+ Wishlists now support categories, search, sharing, and more. Those are technically two different updates but under the same goal.

Oddly enough, Counter Strike 2 just lost anticheat. The new one is not yet available but the game seemingly even stopped giving VAC bans due to the update. It's gonna be the worst time to play the game.
