Google on-screen translation started to get wrong languages as the output regardless of the settings. The issue apparently started in September and is getting worse over time.
In my case, it shows a mix of Turkish, Portuguese, and Arabic. But each time it will return with a different language and it can be completely random. So it's often less helpful than the source I'm looking at.
Yes, even if Gemini is disabled for you, it still handles translation backend on the Google Assistant and web-based translation. Google refused to provide any information.
Just in case you have a messy translation β this is the reason!

The guy on Google Support forums is abusing his Expert title (he isn't working for Google, he's just an enthusiast) and threaten to ban people for reports on translation issues.
And lock out forums where the issue is reported.
You can kindly report his replies here: https://support.google.com/profile/17155 (the whole account can't be reported, but you can open his ban messages below and report them)

The AI slop upscaled videos appeared on YouTube. "Zombie on your lawn" is among the first videos that were forcibly upscaled.
The issue:
- Results are mediocre
- Low bitrate makes wobbly image

YouTube team decided that banning 12 million people in a few months and generally ruining search was not bad enough. So a few days ago they removed search by date from the UI!

YouTube is fighting Ad Blockers again, cutting off the signal if your browser is cutting off the ad. Can be fixed by F5, but still a bit annoying.
Funny enough, YouTube employees were not initially informed last summer about this trick, so YouTube-Julia created a support forum topic where she said they are investigating the issue and will fix it. Now the page only exists in an archive. Because it's intentional. Dumbasses!

Game companies started to lose market value because of Google. The new Project Genie (Ginnie 3 Beta) can hallucinate "stable" "interactive 3D scenes". And investors believed that this time slop will definitely replace games.
The videos the new algorithm makes are not 3D, not truly interactive, and absolutely unstable. They require an insane amount of compute power to run morphing videos at somewhat 30 FPS. The camera can't move really fast even if needed.
You may ask: wait, but wasn't this already the case? Yes, the new model is just a bit more stable, but still wobbly as hell.

Google stated to change web pages titles in search to make them clickbait.
As The Verge noticed back in 2025, they were already doing it for Discovery and News sections. Now it's in the basic search as well. And as of now users and website owners can't turn it off.
Most of the time the title is getting altered too much and it can even completely contradict the real article.
