We have GIMP 3.2 before GTA VI: - Non-destructive vector objects / layers - Link layers (external image) - Color override - New brushes - Better text editing And many more! https://www.gimp.org/news/2026/03/14/gimp-3-2-released/ #FOSS@GameDEV #Free@GameDEV
GIMP website is barely usable now. Why? Everyone is trying to download it and they host files on the same server as the website. Such a 1999 approach! πŸ™ˆ

1. Even the installer got better (visually and functionally with safe restore point, upgrade workflow, etc).

2. Old plugins and brushes are working in my case. And it boots up even faster than before (despite I have 1000 brushes or so).

Hitman creators from IOI announced that their publishing deal with Build a Rocket Boy is over. The one and only Mindseye game is now fully under BARB control.

Mindseye was the worst game of 2025 and led to financial issues for the studio and the publisher. Despite it was founded by the GTA veteran Leslie Benzies and costs over $200m to make, Mindseye was barely even a game. A few hours of repetitive gameplay, broken open world, poor shooting, and tons of bugs.

The studio have created the sandbox environment Everywhere with Unreal Engine and wanted it to compete with Roblox and UEFN. The similar (but better optimized) project Core got a very moderate success but Everywhere wasn't even released.

Mindseye made with the sandbox tools was mediocre at best, but BARB blamed: spies, media conspiracy, and Rockstar sabotage. Not their own mismanagement! And now the studio is left with unreleased sandbox app and a failed game.

Remedy made a tricky move: FBC Firebreak failed miserably but they provided it with the final update and promised to keep the servers up for years to come.

Meta Horizon Worlds will be discontinued this June! And Hyperscape captures (collaborative experiences) are also going down just a few months after the release.

The whole VR castle is seemingly going deeper and deeper into a niche thing.

PlayStation picked the wrong release window (in the beginning of Steam Spring Sale), set too high piece, and now losing in the battle against piracy.

Players have tons of alternatives and now can fully avoid payments for the game. But even before the leak they could literally get 5-10 games on sale instead of wasting €80 on this one.

The studio behind Highguard disappeared from LinkedIn. Their websites went offline. The co-founder marked that his work in Wildlight Entertainment is over. Apparently, the company is now closed.

The studio already fired most of the team right after the release but the remaining 18 people have tried to recover what's left. Now only the debt remains as even PlayStation started to issue refunds for people who sent money to this game.

8-18 people are still online regardless, they are looking at connection error screen and staying.

The ad that you don't want to close instantly is a rare gem, so I'll even share it here. Albion is a cool sandbox mmo but I'm getting rather tired of grind and user-driven economy.

Damage control from DF is weak and breaking their team apart. Alex, who was not present on the showcase, hates this tech absolutely and the disgust on his face is legendary: https://youtu.be/5dTTfjBAFzc #NVIDIA@GameDEV #AI@GameDEV
Just to add a little bit of context:

NVIDIA told Digital Foundry that studios were deeply involved and it's their vision and work is in progress. DF members thought if they will criticise it right away, they will go against Capcom, Unisoft, and WB. And they liked certain things, like metals and glass in Oblivion Remastered.

Then several industry insiders asked people from all these studios and the response was the same: we have seen it the same day as all of you. In most cases 1-2 staff members were assigned and pushed by CEOs and NVIDIA to stay quiet. It was not discussed, negotiated freely inside the teams. And most of them see AI filters negatively.

It was portrayed as pure RnD for involved developers (not as something coming out this autumn), then as the future of gaming (supported by major studios) for investors and Digital Foundry.

Meet the first gameplay video of Exodus. From Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by former BioWare developers James Ohlen, Chad Robertson, and Drew Karpyshyn, and published by Wizards of the Coast.

---

So far gamers are not confident yet and compare Exodus to The Division by Unisoft. When in reality cover shooting was a huge part of Mass Effect long before TD came out, but yeah, it looks a bit 2011.

For me the issue is rather different: the video is all over the place, shows small features that aren't necessary good or polished, etc. It's very basic set of game mechanics that have to be there but don't define the game.

- You can kinda walk
- Do laggy cover shooting
- Rope swing (Uncharted?)
- Doors from Mass Effect?

It's bland AF, like a template from UE5 (which it most likely is).
