Monster Hunter Wilds severe FPS drops were traced to a faulty DLC ownership check that constantly runs and heavily burdens the CPU. Testing showed the game runs terribly (20β25 FPS) on accounts with no DLC but smoothly (80+ FPS) on accounts with many DLC items. Bypassing the check dramatically improves performance, indicating an unintentional optimization bug.
