Kondakadalai/chana dal salted fish curry.
To make: roughly pound 1/2 inch ginger,
5 garlic and
1 large onion.
Saute it in 1/4 cup of oil.

Add fish curry powder (as needed),
2 sliced green chillies,
1 large sliced tomato,
1 tsp turmeric powder and
1 tsp fenugreek/halba seeds.

Stir a couple of times, pour water (enough for a thick gravy) and stir.
Add 1 packet salted fish (soaked for 20 mins and rinsed) and tamarind juice (as needed).
Stir and simmer to cook it.

Now add 1 1/2 cups dhal (already boiled) and salt (taste bf adding). Stir and simmer for a few minutes.
Off heat and combine in some coriander leaves.

Let’s cook
Sweat/sauté sliced onion, smashed garlic and curry leaves.

Add fish curry powder (mix with
some water), tomato and 1 tsp halba/fenugreek seeds.
Stir.
Add potatoes.
Stir.
Pour water and cook to soften potatoes.
Add salted fish (soaked and rinsed), tamarind juice and some salt.
Stir.
Simmer for 5 minutes and remove from heat.
Note - ingredients as needed.

Salted fish chick pea curry.
Fry 1 tsp fenugreek/halba seeds, 6 smashed shallots and 7 smashed garlic in 3 tbsp oil.
Add curry paste (11/2 tbsp fish curry powder and 1 tsp turmeric powder mixed with water), stir and cook till aromatic.

Add 4 sliced green chillies, stir and pour tamarind/asam water (tamarind mixed with 3 cups water.
Simmer, add fish and chick peas. Simmer, remove from heat and combine in fenugreek/methi leaves.
Salt: taste bf adding.
