To give an idea of production capacity lost, GAO report NSIAD-95-89 (1995) states that surge capacity then, after already closing 3 plants, was 867 000 a month

Good thread by @MT_Anderson looking into where the LRA bombers have dispersed.

I do suspect some of the missing ones are at Olenegorsk, but we need more daylight. If the weather cooperates too, I think imagery should be available from the 2nd week of February and onwards.

@Craig_VG I have no idea what the normal production/procurement of shells was in 1995, or earlier when it likely was higher, so I don't have anything to challenge this claim with.

The answer is likely to be found in some archive, possibly online, as it usually is when looking at the US.
