In a call to an Italian TV programme, @realDonaldTrump has claimed that @GiorgiaMeloni "begged" him to take a picture with her during the recent G7 summit.
Meloni has just delivered one of the sharpest public rebukes in recent US-Italy relations:
"President Trump's words are pure fantasy [...].
We do not understand why the President of the United States behaves like this, especially towards allies. We would like to see him behave as firmly with the enemies of the West [...].
Myself and Italy do not beg anybody."
Whatever one's political preferences, the President of the United States has no business publicly mocking or insulting the democratically elected leader of a close European ally.
President Trump's childish and needlessly confrontational behaviour is unworthy of the office he holds and of the great nation he represents.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on US stance regarding Ukraine:
"We have a feeling, you see, that there could be another change in the approach... Recently, my colleague Marco Rubio, speaking at a hearing in Congress, said, to our surprise, that the United States cannot be an intermediary on the 'Ukrainian affairs' [Russia-Ukraine war], because the United States fully supports Ukraine. They indeed support Ukraine. Not only by extending Biden's sanctions, but also by initiating their own sanctions, by launching special programs of the Pentagon to aid military-industrial sector of the Kyiv regime."
