It is striking how many of the people cheering for NATO to redeploy intermediate range missiles in Europe to counter Russia’s own capability didn’t live through the end of the Cold War and did not experience what it is like to barely survive an arms race.…

Shahed over Belarus: What was it?
Last night one of the UAVs (kamikaze drone of the Shahed type) launched by Russia during another attack on Ukraine flew into Belarus and stayed in the airspace of the country for at least 1 hour.
One of the first to report about the Russian Shahed in Belarus was the Telegram channel “Insider UA” at 20:27, at 20:44 this information was confirmed by the monitoring Telegram channel “Monitor”. It’s known that the UAV entered Belarus from Chernihiv region, Ukraine, near Loyeu and took a course to the northwest (towards Mazyr), but there is one more important detail.
At the time of the first information about the UAV’s flight into Belarus, a Mi-24 helicopter of the Belarusian Air Force had already been over Homiel region for more than an hour. It flew to Homiel region from Machulishchy airfield at around 19:00. There was also a fighter from Baranavichy, which took off even earlier – at around 18:30.
