According to Odaily, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently emphasized the platform's shift towards a more streamlined and robust design, drawing inspiration from Bitcoin's minimalist approach to core protocol design. He advocates for simplifying the consensus layer's key code and enhancing Layer 2 scalability through advanced zero-knowledge proof (ZK) and Optimistic Rollup technologies.
The upcoming Pectra upgrade, set to launch on May 7, integrates the 'Prague' and 'Electra' upgrade plans, encompassing 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) aimed at boosting network scalability, security, and user experience. Key enhancements include the introduction of account abstraction (EIP-7702), increasing the validator cap (EIP-7251), and doubling data block (Blob) throughput (EIP-7691) to reduce Layer 2 transaction costs.
