ICYMI - THANKS, BARRY 🕊️
A minute of silence was observed for the late Mr Barry Whitbread, the former Singapore national coach who passed away on 9/9 before the Singapore Premier League match between Young Lions and FC Jurong at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Coach Whitbread is remembered as the first Lions coach to guide the island republic to her first international honour - The Tiger Cup in 1998.
The match ended 4-0 to the White Swans

RIP MR LIM KIA TONG
Just days before his demise in 2022, I received this from him at a book launch at JBS.
And he said these words to me:"I heard you been writing a lot on Singapore football." before he handed me his card

#bftp9am - DOI THE FRAMING RIGHT
Hougang United's Tomoyuki Doi tried to get his framing before a free kick during a Singapore Premier League (SPL) match against Lion City Sailors back in August 2021 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Stood besides Doi was Hafiz Abu Sujad who retired from the game in 2022.
While Doi has since moved to Thailand after his record breaking 44 goals per season feat for Geylang International in 2024/25 season.

GARUDA MAY NOT BE TOO PLEASED
Not sure about the rest, but Indonesia should be disappointed with this outcome despite the win over the Lions.
Prior to Safuwan's sending off and the penalty, I thought we did well to hold them to a goal lead.
I didn't watch how the first goal was scored as I just got back from work.

ICYMI - PERRY GRANTED SINGAPORE CITIZENSHIP
According to various sources, Liverpool-born and Cardiff City's defender Perry Ng has been granted Singapore citizenship and is now awaiting clearance from FIFA to play for the Singapore national team.
(P.S.: I amended the original post, as Ng is still subject to FIFA's approval before he can play for the Singapore national team)

Earlier of the day, I shared my thoughts with CNA in the just concluded Lions' FIFA Asean Cup campaign.
One of things I stressed is time is not on head coach Gavin Lee's (file pictured) side and "will have to make do with the players who are already available to him".
