20 Years Ago on May 19, 1999, Lucasfilm released Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Not the best one, but way better than #Disney version of #StarWars.

πŸ˜‰ Definitely worth trying!

Cyberpunk we deserve by #NVIDIA and #DISNEY. Fun fact: some robots in the most recent entities of Star Wars on TV are actually robots.

Corporate moment in the amazing Weird article where a group of kids saved their favorite game and ages later it's still keeping over 10K DAU.

The Toontown Rewritten team knows they operate in murky waters. Without a licensing agreement from Disney, 11 years of hard work could be shut down at any minute by a Disney lawyer. That’s why they’ve taken extensive steps to try to circumvent any concerns the Mouse House would have, including founding a nonprofit organization to oversee the game; making the game free to play; forgoing advertising revenue; removing NPCs of Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald Duck; and implementing a robust content moderation system to protect young players.

Sounds like they treat the game and their community better than Roblox or other big games for kids.

I'd say the same for gaming: we need a little more games about happiness, comfort, and friendship. Even still you can't turn a dark fantasy into one, there's enough space for original stories that warm people up! ❀️

Lilo & Stitch is aiming at $340m after the first weekend. It's the best live-action success for Disney. While many of the adult reviewers hate it, kids and families seem happy about the remake.

While Mission Impossible, in comparison, only starts with $190m. But thanks to both of them, the movie industry in the US faced its best ever Memorial Day (IDK what's that).

Disney just fired 8% of Marvel and delisted dozens of games from online stores. One of them was supposed to be under GoG protection but was still delisted even there. In total 29 games were delisted this year (15 now + 14 in January)

Marvel case is also curious: the layoffs were reported as urgent and fairly random. But the expected shift is near elimination of VFX department that will be replaced by a few outsourcing managers.

Just a few first moves of the new top management 🫑
