Quite a lot of failure of freedom began when Europe lost Nokia (and Symbian OS and their Linux forks, currently in-use by Russia only). Systems that were under real European control. When Canadian BlackBerry failed. When Philips and Siemens turned from inventors into patent-owning houses. ASML is the last straw of European inventions.
All Operating Systems are under solitary control now, all communications are. It's all way too centralized. China can do some stuff by ignoring the rules, but even they barely able to stand against this centralization.
We need more self-hosted stuff, we need to take out our belongings from the cloud. Just saying!

Yes, in a few months NVIDIA users will get this level of performance in Blender Cycles, but:
