Every new GTA VI leak leaves more and more MindsEye vibes. The movement is off, the driving is stiff, shooting is not on par with older games. The company that made all GTA games is now making a GTA wannabe at best. Like a template from asset store — all features are there but the essence is absent.

It feels like we lost something as the industry, like we are looking at the monumental buildings previous generations were able to do an we can only make concrete + glass boxes now.

The new hope for Riot Games shattered: their fighting game failed commercially. Up to the point where Riot refunds the purchases to bet on the long term relationships with their audience.

Just for context: Riot Games are still one of the biggest live service companies, comparable to Minecraft or Fortnite with 130-140m MAU across their projects (mostly League of Legends). They are owned by Tencent, earn billions, and thrive on average.

All the lots of "200+ stylized flight attendants, game ready" are not getting any sales. Like, for real — start with the problem! Have anyone needed random stuff before? Or 200 of any 3D asset!

Like in many cases, lack of creativity and effort also means lack of marketing vision and no ability to understand the supply and demand workflow.

For over five years mother and her son in China were making their first animated movie Niu Lai. They have learned all the skills along the way and the results were outrageously bad. But it was their small dream.

It earned only $1200 during the first two weeks (trial limited run) but then was noticed by social media and went viral for being made by humans without AI, for being a family story, and for being as bad that it's almost brilliant.

Now it earned $3m and counting.

Yesterday Take-Two sent legal request to Microsoft and Discord to share their own investigations related to GTA VI leaks. Moreover, they target not only the initial person but everyone from the servers related to him and several influencers who covered the story.

Their legal representative filed this request in New York, now both companies have up to September 4 to share the details or officially reject the request.

Why Microsoft? At least some of the videos were captured on XBOX Series S and among the requirements TT deliberately ask for XBOX account data. Some leaks were also posted on GitHub.

Objectively correct

The first rule of marketing: if you don't control the narrative over your product, someone else will and their narrative will control you.

The controversial Horizon Live-Service is cancelled or at least significantly cut, according to Bloomberg and GameIndustry:

At best it will become a shorter, cheaper, and more simple spin-off. They will provide a campaign and some twisty but old-fashioned multiplayer. But even this is not that certain anymore — it is still under pressure and can be fully scrapped.

No one liked it, it won't be missed, see ya in Highguard 2.
