Dreams will no longer receive any updates, so there won't be native PS5 and PSVR2 support, no multiplayer, etc:

The creative sandbox was only released on PS4 to allow artists to make games with #NoCode and pretty outstanding visuals.

Unfortunately, Sony and Media Molecule never ported it on PC, never allowed "some games to be released outside of dreams" (as it was initially promised). It seems that despite all the strong sides they were afraid of this Pandora Box, that could potentially grow into another Roblox.

The Mirror, started as #GodotEngine fork turned into the #Roblox kind of app, is now becoming #FOSS.

So the app developers will cut their fee on additional content and features but overall the app and the server are now open source. Which means instead of making yet another Roblox, like The Core and Everywhere (by BaRB), they are making "the app to make yet another Roblox of your own". Which may be a wise move.

Hytale by Hypixel Studios is cancelled and the studio will be closed.

A long-awaited RPG in Minecraft aesthetic is officially dead after six years of development.

The studio was previously acquired by Riot Games, so it's their initiative to cut some costs.

Hitman creators from IOI announced that their publishing deal with Build a Rocket Boy is over. The one and only Mindseye game is now fully under BARB control.

Mindseye was the worst game of 2025 and led to financial issues for the studio and the publisher. Despite it was founded by the GTA veteran Leslie Benzies and costs over $200m to make, Mindseye was barely even a game. A few hours of repetitive gameplay, broken open world, poor shooting, and tons of bugs.

The studio have created the sandbox environment Everywhere with Unreal Engine and wanted it to compete with Roblox and UEFN. The similar (but better optimized) project Core got a very moderate success but Everywhere wasn't even released.

Mindseye made with the sandbox tools was mediocre at best, but BARB blamed: spies, media conspiracy, and Rockstar sabotage. Not their own mismanagement! And now the studio is left with unreleased sandbox app and a failed game.

Crimson Desert renewed the record yesterday which is uncommon for single player games (to grow in active player base two weeks after the release is extremely rare).

Rec Room sandbox platform is shutting down. They previously fired half of their team and were still unable to find profits.

Billions in valuation and over $145m as the investment round D in 2021 weren't enough to make it commercially sustainable. But to be fair, Roblox still lives at net loss despite $4.9B in profits.

Dune Awakening devs are working on Self-Hosted servers and PvE. Soon PvP will become fully optional, less than 20% ever use it and they are less engaged.

Will AAA publishers notice it? Your live-service games are no longer needed, collaboration is the key, exploration and creation are the driving force.

No Robux included, discounts and access to some extra features. For now, $5/month and the price will definitely go higher. The goal is to make spendings less chaotic.

Last year just one Roblox game was more popular than Fortnite or Steam. But this trend is not yet returning in 2026 and the company still operates at loss. While in time of uncertainty gross profit and market share are not the only things investors want to see.

Sandbox (stylized as S&box), a UGC platform from the creators of Garry's Mode, has mixed reviews on Steam:

The pioneers aren't happy that a lot of stuff in Sandbox is made with AI. But the content is user generated, so it's hard to treat it as the failure of the platform itself. But the poor optimization is indeed a valid concern.
