A few weeks ago Rockstar announced a free upgrade for the PC version of GTA V with much higher system requirements, FSR3/DLSS3, and Ray Tracing for lighting, reflections, and shadows. And the loading times are nearly instant on SSDs thanks to DirectStorage support.

So now it's available on Steam, on Rockstar Games Social Club launcher, but... NOT ON EPIC GAMES STORE! The company somehow forgot to release the new edition on EGS.

Epic Store is now free from revenue share up to $1m per year per project. Which means, the store is efficiently free for the majority of indie developers.

After $1m mark, they keep the previous 12% fee, which is still much lower than what Steam offers (30%).

In addition to that, developers will now have tools to build web stores within Epic Store and use them for in-app purchases.

Gearbox ate shit and quit Epic Store deals, Remedy ate shit (but their Alan Wake deal is infinite), Square Enix cried that their sales failed on EGS, and so on.

Exclusive deals on EGS are a dead end. And Lords of the Fallen II is dead on arrival now.

Epic Store market share on PC is about 3-6% (depends on the report), while Steam holds over 70% of transactions and even more in playtime. After 6 years, EGS is still nowhere near.

Callisto Protocol is free (yet again) on Epic Store. During the last few years, the game got much more stable and optimized, so you can run it on an average GPU. And facial animations look very impressive, one of the best ever, but the game is kinda mediocre at best.

And you have to agree to three different contracts and skip four promotional screens to get to the actual game.

Disco Elysium is free on Epic Store for one day, so let me explain the game, if you haven't heard of it. Here's how I died during my first two hours of gameplay:

— I woke up and died right away
— I jumped to get my sock and died
— Flirted with the girl and died
— Ran from an old lady on a wheelchair
— Kicked the rubbish bin
— Argued with the nasty kid
— Argued with the creepy worker

Perfect simulator of being 35, 10/10
