Slaying dragons mid air πŸ˜…
Since I'm a big fan of handhelds (Win Max 2020 on the photo, but I also have Win Max 2), check out how GPD decided to get back to their origins and made a smaller device, that is still equally powerful:

Ryzen 7840U with RDNA 3 graphics, 120Hz FHD screen, up to 64GB 7500MHz RAM, up to 2TB of PCIE4 SSD (upgradable to 4 easily), hall sensor sticks, analog triggers, USB 4 and OcuLink for eGPU. All of that in ~500 grams.

And #SteamDeck is now OLED and has 1TB version in its 2023 refresh. There's also 6nm APU instead of 7nm, but the tech is the same (ZEN2 CPU cores + RDNA2 GPU).

It's still far behind Asus, Lenovo, GPD, and other competitors using ZEN4 cores and Ryzen 7000 architecture this year. But Deck is still cheaper.

And older versions are gonna be available at a certain discount!

Finally, Biomutant is coming to Nintendo Switch in a couple of months β€” it will be available on May 14, 2024.

It's a bizarre beat-em-up about post apocalyptic world, genocide, sins of the parents, horrors of war... and FARTY BULBAPLOD!

The game was ported by Saber Interactive (who previously created The Witcher 3 and Vampyr for Switch). So they know how to make heavy games stable on Switch hardware.

This year's handhelds are insanely fast but also got more expensive β€” thanks to AMD, who in lack of competition and growing demand priced their AI chips up to 2 times higher.

With Variable Refresh Rate screen and FSR3 Frame Generation support, it can run even the most demanding games.

Shuhei Yoshida (ex-PlayStation) apparently plays on GPD Win Max 2 (same as I do) when travelling.

And I can agree that it's always blows my mind that you can carry around a 15-35W device that can run any games and apps.

And his overall interview is nice to see β€” he seems to be glad to be free from PS limitations. He jokes about Nintendo bringing them customers, etc.

Steam OS has been updated and now supports more devices. It's probably going to be able to run on many Ryzen-based handhelds. The installation is done via USB recovery image:

He was supposed to carry one ring to Mordor, but he plays obscure quests on his Steam Deck. Freaking legend!

OneX just announced their OneXGPU 3, packed with 9070 XT (cut down to 180W). This is still the most powerful of such solutions and you can plug it into any USB4 / Thunderbolt 3 compatible laptop. And it will be a beast, capable of 4K gaming.

Steam Deck is completely [OUT OF STOCK] and Valve confirmed that the issue is memory shortage. And it's not just price, they simply can't buy any more RAM.

Steam Deck OLED is available again but the price is much higher due to memory shortages... a 2018 CPU architecture and 2021 GPU limited to 15W. That's not ~€920 of goodies.

Not saying that the world gone mad, but among five big announcements from AMD there's Ryzen 5800x3D Anniversary Edition. Costs $349 AM4 will never die, I assume! #AMD@GameDEV #Hardware@GameDEV
In addition to that, AMD decided to screw NVIDIA over by releasing their second generation "Max" system, called AI Max 400 (Gorgon Halo). It will power the best handhelds, laptops, and compact computers.

1. It's more powerful than the best model from NVIDIA (which they just announced).

2. It's x86 = no compatibility issues nor overhead, compared to ARM CPUs from NV.

3. Up to 192GB of unified memory and up to 160GB of that can be used by the GPU. NVIDIA only managed to make 128GB of unified memory.

Overall it will replace Strix Halo lineup and will beat the crap out of anything in both AI and gaming.
