LinkedIn just made "seems like AI slop" button for all the suggested posts in the feed. That's curious!

And to remind you about bipolar nature of my mind, here are my notes on local LLMs:
1. 99% of them are horrible, just outright barely usable even for low-risk applications. Qwen 3.6 derivatives passed some benchmarks but SUX ARSE (Prism 27B included). Nvidia's own stuff is trash too.
2. The exact model is more important than the family. The size (8B, 12-14B, 27B, etc) maters less than how tuned and mixed it is. Quants also matter (Q4+ are usable, Q1-3 are falling apart β it's like a compression level)
3. For my goals I ended up with two very capable models, both are from Gemma 4 family:
https://huggingface.co/Brunobkr/OFFELLIA_Gemma-4-E4B-8b-Claude-4.6-Opus-Reasoning-MTP - a tiny 7.5B model but very well tuned for tech stuff. Makes some mistakes, so ask wisely. Can run on a laptop. Loves emojis when writing you guides. Good in small technical stuff, bad in everything else (like it knows nothing of exact games or movies, it was mostly cut).
https://huggingface.co/mudler/gemma-4-26B-A4B-it-Claude-Opus-Distill-APEX-GGUF - fairly big MoE for all sorts of stuff. Eats tons of RAM, but Mix of Experts with APEX allows it to still be very fast. But it is still hard to run even on a GPU, hunt for higher quants (like at least APEX I Compact), prefer I over non-I.
And I run it via LM Studio on RTX 5070 and on a Ryzen 6800U laptop. LLMs will not do stuff for ya (they can β there are agentic options and tool usage access, but that's rarely a good application), just keep them in mind as local Google on steroids.

Finally, a random developer experience, not just a blogger making "content" about it:
- AI leads to mental health issues
- More is not better, as:
- More code is not = better product
- More updates is not = better apps
- So, AI downgrades everyone to QA
- Makes apps bigger, slower, and worse
And oh, never consider or imagine that chat bot is a friend, therapist, that it cares, or whatever. It's a soul-draining machine if used wrong.

I'm done coding with AI
I decided to stop using AI for coding at my job, even if it costs me that job. I don't know what the future will bring, but I know it will be one where I don't use AI for anything, especially coding at my day job.
