You may have heard or read about an upcoming Cardano OBFT hard-fork via various media. While this is technically a hard fork, it won’t look anything like the various BTC hard-forks that happened and exist to date.

All parties of the current federated system have agreed to the protocol upgrade, so no action is required from Yoroi users. Daedalus users will have to upgrade their wallet, but no more. The whole process should smoothly happen automatically.

IOHK has just released a brand new #Daedalus for the Shelley testnet. Now you can try out new #Shelley Shelley features in a sandboxed environment using test ada - including delegation, stake pools & seeing how real rewards will work on the mainnet later this summer.

IOHK will release have a full video walkthrough for you later this week, digging into the features in-depth. We'll also be adding new Daedalus testnet functionality incrementally during the Shelley roll out, over the weeks ahead.

Remember, no 'real' ada is involved on the testnet. But please always be vigilant against scammers. Never respond to 'giveaways' and never send your real ada to anyone claiming they are a stake pool. Delegation happens within your own wallet - your ada never goes anywhere.

The new Daedalus wallet (1.2.0-STN1) is now available from the Cardano testnets site; remember, for your own security, only download Daedalus from official IOHK or Cardano sites: testnets.cardano.org/en/shelley/get-started/wallet/

Want to see what #ada rewards you could earn when staking arrives on mainnet later this summer? IOHK has released a staking calculator for the #Shelley Testnet, so you can estimate what your rewards could be on mainnet.

While you can try out delegation and staking features, there are currently no rewards on the Shelley testnet. ada rewards come with Shelley on the Cardano mainnet. Currently, we estimate rewards of around 4.6% annualized on your staked ada.*

Factors like stake pool performance total staking volume will affect the exact % (percentage) rewards you should expect. Here’s the calculator. So you can do the math. OUT NOW: Daedalus 2.1.0 is the first major update to the Daedalus wallet and introduces two new features: Shelley ITN rewards redemption, and spendable rewards
on Cardano.

The “Redeem Incentivized Testnet rewards” feature lets you redeem ITN rewards to a Shelley wallet. This requires both the wallet recovery phrase (from the Daedalus Rewards wallet containing the rewards) and a #Shelley wallet with enough funds to pay the transaction fees.

Cardano Node and Backend Update:

It has been a busy fortnight for IOG, as they continue to enhance and optimise the #Cardano #Shelley platform. Last week, they released a host of upgrades inc. a new #Cardano wallet backend, adding transaction metadata support and enhanced performance for exchanges and 3rd party wallets.

Earlier today (yesterday for some), they’ve deployed a number of additional upgrades to mainnet, including new node version 1.20.0. This release further optimises performance for SPOs by reducing CPU and memory usage at the end of each epoch.

The new node also contains node-level pool ranking enhancements and saturation calculations which will be integrated into the next Daedalus release to continue to improve the delegation experience.
