GBPUSD Analysis
GBPUSD looks to be falling lower today along with the US futures market. However, some readings suggest that price could make a move higher due to some technical indicators. Firstly, GU's 50 MA crossed above the 200 MA on the 1D timeframe. This indicator points toward a bullish market in the mid to long term. This is the first time these moving averages have crossed was August 2021, and the last golden cross was in August of 2020. Right now, the pound is almost 70% long on the COT side making it one of the top 5 most longed assets by institutional traders. A golden cross paired with heavy buying indicates that EU could continue to move higher.

This pair was the #1 buy pick for the week before it took off another 1% this morning. Almost all of the retail crowd is short while institutions are just the opposite. Interest rates are the same for either country while unemployment is lower in New Zealand. The past 5 years suggest that price will have a good month before it retraces in February. Price is now coming up to test another key resistance level around 0.87658 where there is a double top on the 1D timeframe. A break in that level could lead to further highs around 0.89407.

Gold is coming up for a retest on the highs in the $1920s. COT interest grew this week while retail traders seem to be bearish on the metal.
