We can construct a future Syria that is democratic and secure
Statement of the YPJ General Command in regards to the newest developments in Syria:
📌"In light of the recent developments in Syria particularly following Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s (HTS) seizure of power and the overthrow of the Ba’athist Syrian regime we observe that the conflict in Syria has deepened, descending further into widespread chaos."
📌"Our Druze people represent an ancient and honorable community, just like all the other components of Syrian society, and they have long struggled for their freedom and independence. HTS, with its authoritarian and oppressive mentality, seeks to subjugate the deeply rooted peoples of this land, such as the Alawites and Druze, deliberately sowing sectarian conflict and fueling tensions among the diverse communities of the region."
📌"As the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), we categorically condemn these terrorist crimes committed against our Druze and Alawite peoples, who are an integral part of Syria’s social fabric."
📌"We believe that self-defense is the primary and indispensable guarantee for building a free and democratic society."
📌"We can construct a future Syria that is democratic and secure, guided by the ethical and aesthetic consciousness of womens consciousness that stands in direct opposition to the dominant, violent, patriarchal mentality."

Jinwar – A women’s village full of change and hope in North and East Syria
Jinwar is home to many different women that have decided to join the community for a variety of different reasons. Something that unites all of them is their search for a free life in communality and the wish to learn, to strengthen and develop as women. The life in Jinwar is based on communal values and principles such as ecology, democratic self-organization, women’s economy, women’s health, education and the building up of a common future. The women share their knowledge about gardening and ecological ways of growing fruits and vegetables. At the same time, their aim is to build a self-sustainable life that offers independence on an economic level. The women of Jinwar are building up a communal economy by working hand in hand with other cooperatives in the region. Furthermore, they run a bakery, a small village store and dry vegetables for the winter which are also sold. All decisions concerning the daily life, activities, new ideas and the village economy are discussed and made in the village council assemblies.

A warrior fights with his weapon, and an artist fights with his instrument and voice
The music group Stêra Zêrîn (Golden Star) which is part of the autonomous cultural movement Hîlal Zêrîn (Golden Crescent) visited YPJ. We were talking about the meaning of culture in the revolution and YPJ commander Newroz Ehmed stated that there has always been a rich culture in Mesopotamia but now with the revolution culture has taken a new step. This is also connected to thoughts and thinking. Only if your thoughts and your thinking is free you can create something meaningful.
It also became very clear that self-defense has many different forms and to protect the values of the revolution self-defense with weapons is just as important as the self-defense of ones one culture and traditions. But by doing this to not be limited to Kurdish culture, as different cultures enrich each other.
After the fruitful discussions we were lucky and Stêra Zêrîn shared some songs with us.
