📰 AMD Ryzen AI Halo Box RGB LED Driver Inches Closer To The Mainline Kernel
The AMD Ryzen AI Halo mini PC powered by Ryzen AI Max+ "Strix Halo" began shipping this week. It features very nice Linux support out-of-the-box with the Debian-based Ryzen AI Developer Platform operating system. For those wishing to run their own x86_64 Linux distribution, one of the only caveats in the Linux support is quite small... No mainline kernel support yet for controlled the RGB LED light strip on the driver.

📰 Jellyfin's latest preview release finally convinced me to stop using separate media apps
Jellyfin runs on my mini PC inside a single Debian VM. Until recently, I put that VM under more multitasking than it should have had to handle. On that Proxmox-based mini PC, Jellyfin handled movies and shows. Calibre-web took care of my ebooks. Komga managed all the comics. Audiobookshelf organized all the audiobooks. Four separate services, four separate logins. All for the same broad job: showing me the media library.

📰 My home server is smart, my VPS is deliberately dumb, and that's the whole point
People mostly assume a VPS is a more reliable home server because it's always on and should be doing real work. Mine isn’t. I previously talked about how my NAS is just dumb storage and my local Debian server handles the compute. All meaningful workload stays on my Dell Latitude home server — Docker services, databases, media, and anything that actually owns data. The VPS in my architecture follows the same philosophy, just from the opposite end...

📰 Desktop Linux apps on Android proved my phone's biggest bottleneck isn't what I thought
Running desktop Linux apps on an Android phone sounds like the sort of thing that should fall apart almost immediately. You are dealing with a small screen, awkward touch controls, and an operating system that was never designed to work like a desktop operating system. Yet after using Termux and running Debian through Linux Deploy, I found that the display was not the biggest problem.
