CSS attacks still break webmail defenses and steal passwords, tokens

CSS attacks against Outlook, Gmail, Fastmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL Mail, and other webmail services can cross the boundary between an email and the trusted inbox interface. Public proof-of-concept attacks demonstrated password capture, session-token theft, UI hijacking, and manipulation of AI tools connected to email.

📰 Dell Latitude 7320 2-in-1 Seeing Web Camera Support On Linux After Five Years

Windows’ Weather app uses obscene memory – are Linux apps better?

I flummoxed to read a report about how much memory Microsoft’s Weather app uses on Windows 11 – more than 1GB just to render what is, ostensibly, a fancy table of stats. I was less flummoxed to check the memory usage of Mousam, my current go-to weather app on Linux. It the same job for under a third of the Windows figure and, in my opinion, has a much nicer design too. Not everyone running Windows 11 will spot memory usage as high as that reported by Windows Latest, but on my low-power Chuwi laptop (the same one I checked […]

📰 I ran a Pi-hole for a week and was genuinely disturbed by how much my TV phones home

I was getting tired of the ads and promotional content plastered across my smart TV’s interface. I’d already set up a Pi-hole on a Raspberry Pi 4 to block the trackers that feed those ad profiles. So plugging my LG C2 into the network and pointing it at the Pi-hole for DNS felt like the obvious next step.
