The first birds that I encountered this year on the Solovetsky Islands were red-billed mergansers. One was warming itself among the rocks near the old pier, while another was actively swimming in the water of a small stream flowing into the White Sea, catching fish.

Первыми птицами, которых я в этом году встретила на Соловках были длинноносые крохали. Один грелся в камнях у старой пристани, другой активно бороздил воду небольшого ручья, впадающего в Белое море и ловил рыбку.

At the shore of White Sea I noticed a pair of Grey seagull chicks. But I cannot crawl closer to them unnoticed, the parents were on guard and chicks hurried into the water.
На берегу Белого моря я заметила пару птеецов силой чайки. Но подобраться к ним незаметно не удалось, родители подняли тревогу и птенцы поспешили на воду.
