You should always edit your piece of writing before handing it in. In order to do this, you should make sure:

• you have used complete sentences and that the words are in the correct order (i.e. subject, verb, object, etc.).
1- Joe took the of Asghar (Indicates that the subject took something, but lacks an object)
2- The shiniest of the red balls. (Identifies an object but lacks a verb which assigns any action to the object)

• you have used the correct grammar (e.g. past tenses for narratives).
Incorrect: The recipes is good for beginning chefs.
Correct: The recipes are good for beginning chefs.

• you do not repeat the same words, phrases, expressions, etc.
Incorrect: When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I saw that the stairs were high and steep. I took a deep breath and began to climb the stairs. When I reached the top of the stairs I looked around me.
Correct: When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I saw that they were high and steep. I took a deep breath and began to climb. When I reached the top I looked around me.

• there are no spelling errors.
The neighbors are on they’re lawn. (they're is a contraction for they are)
We haven't ever been their. (their is a pronoun)
There coming over to our house tomorrow. (there is a place)

• you have used the correct punctuation. (e.g. commas, full stops, question marks, etc.)
Incorrect: Rachel is very smart, she began reading when she was three years old.
Correct: Rachel is very smart. She began reading when she was three years old.

• you have indented the paragraphs (i.e. have begun the first line of each paragraph further in from the margin).
