The United States launched a series of airstrikes targeting Iranian military sites on Qeshm Island and along Iran's southern coast after Iranian forces attacked U.S. Navy vessels operating near the Strait of Hormuz this evening.

Around 20 strikes hit drone and anti-ship missile launch positions, with explosions reported in Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, and other areas, with large plumes of smoke seen rising from Qeshm Island.

Separately, Kuwait's Ministry of Defense announced that 3 northern border posts and an offshore Kuwait Oil Company drilling platform were struck by drones, most likely from Iran, causing property damage and injuring one worker.

Syria's new People's Assembly convened for its inaugural session on Sunday, marking the first parliament formed since the fall of Bashar al-Assad. Addressing lawmakers, President Ahmad al-Sharaa called for dialogue, institutional responsibility and respect for the rule of law as the country continues its political transition.

During the session, members elected Abdul Hamid al-Awak, the constitutional law expert who chaired the committee that drafted Syria's 2025 Constitutional Declaration, as Speaker of Parliament. Mustafa Moussa and Madonna Beshara were elected first and second deputy speakers, respectively, while Muayad Habib was chosen as the assembly's secretary, completing the executive bureau.

The 210-seat legislature includes 70 members appointed by President al-Sharaa under the transitional constitutional framework, with the assembly scheduled to reconvene for its second session on July 26.

Survivors of the March 1 Iranian Shahed-drone strike on the U.S. military operations center at Kuwaitโ€™s Port Shuaiba have accused senior Army leaders of disregarding intelligence and force-protection assessments warning that the site was a probable Iranian target and lacked adequate defenses against one-way attack drones.

The strike killed 6 Army reservists and wounded more than 30 others, while soldiers said that commanders pressured personnel to return to the operations building shortly before the attack, failed to assist visibly with rescue efforts afterward, and mishandled the evacuation and classification of wounded troops.

Army Central disputes parts of their account, saying the facility had layered defenses and that commanders assisted before being medically evacuated, but a U.S. official familiar with the completed internal review said it currently assigns no fault and recommends no punitive action, fueling survivorsโ€™ concerns that the vulnerabilities and command failures they state may go unaddressed.

Iranian channels issued an urgent warning to citizens and residents of the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain:
To all citizens and residents of the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain:

Due to the actions of your rulers and the use of residential areas in the aforementioned countries to launch ground-to-ground missiles toward Iran, we urge you to exercise the utmost caution.

If you observe any missile systems or launch platforms near your residential areas, evacuate the area immediately. We also advise you to stay away from U.S. military bases and facilities and avoid passing near them.

All citizens and residents are urged to leave these areas without delay and move to safe distances in order to protect their lives and safety.

We have previously issued clear and repeated warnings to your rulers about the dangers of pursuing this course of action and involving their people in what we consider a major gamble with their future.

Nevertheless, they have chosen to continue following orders that, in our view, do not reflect the will of their people but are imposed from outside their borders, without genuine sovereignty. Therefore, they bear full responsibility for any consequences resulting from this course of action.

Leaked internal documents show that Russia and China have significantly expanded their military partnership beyond what either government has publicly acknowledged, with cooperation reportedly encompassing artificial intelligence, advanced electronics, drone development, missile defense, armored vehicles, and military aviation.

The documents indicate Beijing has exchanged technology and industrial support for Russian battlefield experience gained in Ukraine, while the 2 countries have also worked on capabilities to jam, hack, and potentially disable Starlink satellite communications.

The files point to an increasingly integrated strategic relationship that extends well beyond economic ties and reflects deepening military and technological coordination between Moscow and Beijing.

UN Deputy Special Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov has strongly condemned what he describes as repeated interference by Hamas with humanitarian operations, warning that the pattern is endangering aid personnel and disrupting life-saving deliveries.

According to the UN, armed men associated with the authorities forced their way into a food-distribution site in Jabalia, entered a World Food Programme warehouse and assaulted 2 truck drivers delivering humanitarian supplies.

Alakbarov says the incidents are not isolated, citing an increasingly dangerous pattern of intimidation, violence, obstruction, attempted smuggling and abuse of humanitarian operations.

It took them almost 3 years to realise that and issue official statements! Well done, UN.
