They are seeking an exceptional senior-level Python engineer to join a small team working on complex data pipelines, AI/ML systems, and cutting-edge software solutions. This role will be responsible for managing technical objectives, providing technical leadership, and maintaining a hands-on approach to development. The ideal candidate will work closely across teams within the company as part of their business-facing technology organization.
A successful candidate will possess deep expertise in Python development, data engineering, software architecture, and design principles. They should be able to mentor junior team members, conduct code reviews, and drive architectural decisions. Experience with AI and large language models (LLMs) is highly desirable.

⁠- Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from a top-tier institution.
- 7+ years of experience as a Python developer, with a strong focus on data engineering and AI/ML systems.
- Expert-level knowledge of Python and its ecosystem, including experience with data processing libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and efficient data pipelines.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in version control systems (Git), CI/CD practices, and agile methodologies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Experience in the finance industry is a plus but not required.
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, or scikit-learn, LLM, agents or systems of agents is a significant plus.

Title: Data scientist / ML
Salary: up to 4000$ gross

Project description:
Project about virtual progressability series analysis.
The goal is to improve hit triaging process in early chemisty.
To do this, you will be working on improving ADME models through active learning by means of interacting with human scientist.
You will also be working on an algorithms that will be used to rank chemical series.
A single analysis will contain up to 100K compounds.
The scope of work will include work on improvement of existing ML models, training of new models and automation of ML pipelines.
Analysis functionality will be integrated with existing molecular design and data-driven decision making solutions.
This most likely will require developement of simple streamlit/dash application.

📚 Required experience and skills

– Strong Python (3+ years of experience).
– Relevant ML experience: AI/ML model building and analysis (GNNs, RF, GPs, LGBM, etc):
  - experience working with small datasets, imbalanced datasets;
  - experience with pytorch;
  - active learning;
  - uncertainty quantification.
– Experience with Docker.
– English proficiency at B2 level or higher (spoken and written).

📚 Nice to Have

– Experience in chemistry domain.
– Experience working with rdkit or other chem packages.
– Experience with Bayesian Optimization.
– Experience with Airflow, Flute, Kubernetes.
– Experience with Streamlit/Dash.

✈️ Assaia (assaia.com) is working on ML-based systems for international airports and airlines. We were founded in February 2018 in Switzerland.
We develop a computer vision system that monitors and analyses aircraft servicing processes from video streams. The data that the system generates is used in real-time for monitoring, alerting, delay predictions, and also historically – for performance, safety analysis and decision making. Our clients include Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Aeroporti di Roma, Toronto Pearson Airport, Halifax, CVG, British Airways, and Alaska Airlines. Other projects are under NDA.
