I assume that one who is an advance scout acts with the knowledge that his job is a very dangerous one.

The advance scout must go out alone to gather information and cannot take the commander and the troops with him.

The enemy will pull out ALL stops to try to identify and kill the advance scout to prevent him from getting information back to the commander and his troops.

When victory over the enemy is achieved, the advance scout’s role is often overlooked or stays in the background.

Sounds like the job of an advance scout is a thankless job, but a necessary one if the enemy is to be identified and its tactics revealed in time to alert others.

I always think of John the Baptist as a type of advance scout for Jesus Christ.
