After I first became the temporary custodian of Tomotley in April of 2020, many people would stand at the front gate to take pictures of the Oak Alley At Tomotley.
I asked a few why and was told that Google claimed that it was the oak alley in the movie Forrest Gump.
I quickly informed them that Google was wrong.
Forrest Gump was filmed in part at a plantation several miles away from Tomotley.
I personally do not believe God would have ever let Tom Hanks set foot on Tomotley.
Tomotley is a special place created by God.
I am honored to be its temporary custodian.

The Oak Alley At Tomotley was planted in 1820.
Indian wars were fought on the land of Tomotley. The Revolutionary War was fought on the land of Tomotley. The Civil War was fought on the land of Tomotley.
Tomotley was in its beginning in 1689 a rice plantation.
After it was burned during the Civil War, the main house at Tomotley was rebuilt to be a hunting plantation.
Rumors say that Sherman burned down Tomotley.
I disagree.
The overseer’s house and 2 barns predate the Civil War.
If Sherman had burned down the main house at Tomotley, he would have burned down every structure on the property.
I suspect local “looters” burned down the main house at Tomotley.
