*2 labourers die after falling into trench in Kulgam village*

Kulgam, Apr 19 (KNO): Two labourers died while two were rescued after they slipped and fell into a trench in Chakpora area of south Kashmir' Kulgam on Friday, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they were working in the trench when suddenly they slipped and fell into it.

"Soon after the incident police, locals rushed to spot and rescued them,” he said.

The official said they were shifted to a hospital, where of two among them died. The deceased have been identified as Maqbool Dar of Kulgam and Aziz ur Rehman of Bengal.

Medical superintendent district hospital Kulgam, Gulzar Ahmad Dar told KNO that two were brought dead to the hospital, while one is undergoing treatment and another one has been discharged—(KNO)

*Highway Closed Again After Being Partially Restored*

Srinagar, April 19 (GNS): Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, was blocked due to mudslide at Mehad, Ramban and shooting stones at Kishtwari Pather, Banihal, officials said.

Earlier the thoroughfare was partially restored for traffic and stranded vehicles between Nashree and Banihal were cleared. However, mudslides at Mehad, Ramban and shooting stones at Kishtwari Pather, Banihal again blocked the highway which remained shut for the better part of the day.

In the morning, the highway was blocked due to landslide at Gangroo in Ramban.

Meanwhile, Mughal Road, connecting Kashmir Valley’s Shopian district with twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, remained closed and shal remain “till further notice” following fresh snowfall, officials said. (GNS)
*Gandbal Tragedy: Special prayers held for missing trio during Friday prayers*

Srinagar, Apr 19 (KNO): Amidst the continued rescue operation to retrieve the bodies of a missing father-son duo and a minor student, special prayers were held on Friday across the Kashmir Valley in hopes of retrieving the bodies from river Jhelum.

Pertinently, six persons died while three locals went missing after a boat capsized in river Jhelum at Gandbal area of Batwara on April 16.

As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the rescue operation for the missing individuals, Showkat Ahmad, his son Haziq Showkat, along with Farhan Parray, entered its fifth day.

Despite relentless efforts from rescue agencies and local volunteers, the bodies remain untraced, while special prayers were organized across the Kashmir Valley in hopes of retrieving the dead bodies.

“From South to North Kashmir, the valley stands with Gandbal victims, and we are praying to Almighty Allah for the retrieval of the missing body,” said Mohammad Umer, a local from Gandbal, Srinagar.

He added that they remember the deceased and the missing in their prayers, and would like to request everyone to remember the victims and pray for the retrieval of the missing persons.

Moreover, Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, Moulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, Moulana Abdul Qayoom Zadoo, among others on the occasion of Friday, offered special dua for the people of Ganadbal—(KNO)
