Неравнодушные итальянцы собрались на площадь, чтобы выразить России слова поддержки. Говорили и о Донбассе. Спасибо, смелый итальянский народ!

This is a very long, but very good twitter thread on why the US/NATO could not defeat Russia.

On the Patriotism question
Friends, remember that we are not idealists. We deal with real conditions.
The United States is a nefarious political entity. Its dogma is faulty, and it is built and sustained on a foundation of genocide, land theft, slavery, and broad theft of life and resources from the masses of the earth. Its flag cannot be seen as anything but a symbol of violent imperialism.
And it is an incomparably beautiful land, wherein there have been deeply influential and objectively progressive individuals and mass movements, and wonderful contributions to culture, struggle, and knowledge.
And the best of the possible outcomes of the American political crisis is the emergence of some form of socialist state which would inherently have “characteristics” of the preceding culture, good and bad. Material Justice and historical precedent tell us that this struggle would be largely led by black and indigenous movements, in some alliance with factions of the white working class.
And people everywhere having a day without work to grill and drink beer in the summer is objectively good.

I’ll be on RT discussing Ukraine and the West at 3pm

I’m not 100% where to find it online, but I spoke with Paul Mironov on RT just now, most of all about the myth of “western democracy” as it relates to Ukraine.

Bro
-Brittney Griner is not “wrongfully detained,” in a legal sense. She’s legally detained over a shitty law, but it’s a law that’s in effect on most of the earth, unfortunately, along with Russia. I leave my things in the west when I go past Hungary or so.
-When weed is illegal, moving it through an airport is extra risky, and carries harsher treatment. This is also the case anywhere in the west for smuggling a controlled substance.
-Russian bureaucracy, especially in the judicial system, is immense and slow-moving, and even the Kremlin has little say on judicial process. She’s being treated how anyone would be treated.
-She was arrested *before* the Special operation in Ukraine began. It was not a targeted hostage scenario. US sanctions levied *after* her arrest made her situation much stickier, as did the Biden admin’s designation of a “wrongful detainment.”
-I hate that she is in that scenario, and I understand for US radicals how the detainment of a black woman is always especially unsettling, but we have to understand it in its tragic context, recognize that the US government has exacerbated the scenario, and not devour more anti-Russian propaganda.
-I don’t say any of this to blame her, to justify the relevant laws, or even the detainment itself; I have comrades in Russia who are dedicated to changing cannabis policy there, and I might be louder about that if I were a citizen of Russia and living there full-time.
-But if we’re looking at a foreign sovereign state, amidst a global conflict, as citizens of a predatory empire which leads humanity in incarceration, we have got to put our analyses in perspective.
-To be clear, I don’t believe she should be in jail for weed. I don’t believe anyone should be in jail for weed, AND I recognize that cultural conditions in other countries are simply different.
-None of this changes the fact that Russia is a greater force for good on earth, especially in the larger geopolitical sense, than any western nation which happens to have legal weed.
In essence, what I’m really saying is that a sovereign Syrian state, a Denazified Ukraine and free Donbass, and a multipolar economic challenge to US hegemony is more important than an individual case of bad weed policy taking effect.
I feel for Brittney nonetheless.

Local sources report that groups of Ukrainian troops wearing Russian military uniforms, with pinned St. George ribbons, were noted in Slavyansk.
Russia troops are not present in Slavyansk. All civilians are advised to stay far away from such Ukrainian militants and not to approach them under any circumstances.

Dawg, we’re about 4 months too late for your “I’m in no way saying this to support Putin, but Ukraine isn’t the best place on earth” posts.
If you feel the need to qualify your anti-imperialist statements by passively genuflecting to the liberal west’s mouth-foaming hatred of Putin, your statements aren’t serious, and they aren’t effectively anti-imperialist.

It won’t happen, as the US is probably characteristically completely bluffing just to drum up instability
But if China did actually staple Nancy’s jet
That would be the single coolest moment in world history

@bcarloscarvalho photographed the lobby lounge at the Donbass palace, the primary meet-up for journalists in Donestk. It was hit this AM by Ukrainian shells, amidst a ton of other civilian targets in the center.
I spent HOURS in this room.

We all knew Brittney Griner would be given a heavy sentence
As soon as Biden labeled it a “wrongful detainment” and Blinken began to publicly discuss negotiation, the US turned this into a diplomatic standoff, and that’s all it is now
The individual situation is terribly unsettling, but it is nestled in the backdrop of much deeper global issues which affect millions of people across generations

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation told about the possible consequences of Ukraine's shelling of the Zaporozhye NPP.
"In the event of an accident at the Zaporozhye NPP, a global man-made catastrophe will occur, which in terms of the scale of radioactive contamination will significantly exceed the consequences of accidents at the Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear power plants. A population within a radius of 5,300 sq. km, about 420 km long, would be in the radiation contamination zone <... >
The Black Sea and the Bosphorus Strait will become unsuitable for navigation for a long time. The coasts of Turkey, Georgia, Abkhazia, Bulgaria and Romania will be infected with high levels of radiation."
