YouTube
Thou shalt not forget about YouTube. Itβs the easiest way for a general audience to discover new music.
The features that bands should use are YouTube Stories and Posts.
Yes, everything now is a platform where you can communicate with your audience. And, yes, everything has a Stories feature. Old news. But not many bands are using them, so again itβs a bit easier to be noticed.
Example: Mary Zimmer (the singer of Helion Prime) has a YouTube channel

Vlogging
If you decide to go the vlog way - which I think is a good promo way - remember that you donβt have to constantly post only your original content. You can have a nice mix:: covers, song break down, comments, tips, live streams etc.
Btw, you can monetise those vids. Later I gonna calculate how much money you can make with YouTube vs Spotify.
A nice example is Nik Nocturnal (200k subs):

You know that you can monetise your music on YouTube, right?
Your music has Content ID. Youtube scans its database for your stuff and if itβs been reposted somewhere you will get the money from the ads. But you need to apply for it, otherwise, somebody else is taking your money.
All distribution services already have this option.

I asked one band recently about youtube content id,
whether they get any royalties, cos one of the main music channels published their album and it's around 100k views.
They said no, just promotion.
Not sure that's a right way. I checked the "video". There are ads. Which means that they are basically paying for the promotion by not accepting the royalties with content id.
It would be useful to calculate:
1. how much money they would get?
2. Would that money be useful for doing their own targeted ads?
3. How much did their fan stats change since the album went on that music channel? Was it useful?
They should ask the channel to give them stats on who's listening to their album on youtube, cos it's a valuable info. 100k is good, but maybe most of the listeners are in portugal and the band is touring in sweden with half empty shows and they don't even know what's wrong.

I wrote there are ad money floating around on YouTube.
If you want to know how many, you can use socialblade
Here's a screenshot from one of the popular YouTube channels.
At the very bottom of the list is the video (album) I was talking about.
So the band is missing out on some of that money that could be used for the promotion of their music. It might be far less, but still, even with 40$ you could order stickers or smth.
