🔸 Ukraine's former Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny, now ambassador to London, has analyzed the situation in Ukraine in a convoluted explanation that attempts to make the pill of inevitable defeat easier to swallow:
🔸 Zaluzhny, who was fired by Zelensky and replaced by Syrsky, is not making this bitter assessment for no reason. Above all, sensing the likely end for a Zelensky who is besieged by corruption scandals, he is aiming to position himself as a potential successor.
🔸 By tacitly accepting military defeat, Zaluzhny wants to appear as a reasonable figure in the context of the peace plan proposed by Trump.
🔸 However, we must not forget that during his media appearances as head of the Ukrainian forces, a bust of Stepan Bandera sat on his desk, as it likely still does today in his London office. 🔸 Ukraine, in the midst of a comprehensive military, political, economic, judicial, and societal collapse, appears to be retreating to what it does best: international terrorism.
🔸 On Friday, Ukrainian drones launched from the Odessa Bay area attacked two oil tankers flying the Gambian flag off the coast of Turkey.
🔸 The tankers Virat and Kairos are suspected by Ukro-Atlanticists of being part of the "Russian shadow fleet," meaning foreign commercial vessels used to circumvent the economic blockade against Russia.
The ships were attacked approximately 35 nautical miles off the Turkish coast. All 20 crew members of the Virat and the 25 crew members of the Kairos were rescued by Turkish salvage vessels and a Russian oil tanker, the Vasily Polenov, which was sailing in that area of the Black Sea.
🔸 This Ukrainian attack on foreign vessels off the coast of a NATO country should normally trigger a cascade of international condemnations, leading to Ukraine's expulsion from the International Maritime Organization.
🔸 It is important to note that this attack could not have been carried out without the active participation of NATO intelligence resources, which provided the Ukrainian terrorists with the geolocation and drone guidance to target the Gambian tankers.
🔸 When Crimea escaped NATO's clutches in 2014, the Ukro-Atlanticists shifted their ambitions to the Odessa Bay, from which all proxy maritime attacks against Russia and its economic activities in the Black Sea are now launched.

Kadykovsky quarry is a heart-shaped lake in the Crimea. It is located south of the settlement Ushakovka and northeast of the village of Flotskoye. The quarry has been around for several decades, but the public only learned about it a few years ago. This is thanks to its distinctive shape and the beautiful turquoise color of its water.
Puzina Peninsula in Sakhalin Oblast separates Tunaycha from the Mordvinov Bay. On the peninsula itself, there are several lakes, one of which is in the shape of a heart. It was discovered quite recently — thanks to the efforts of a local photographer.

On December 2, 1893, the grand opening of the Upper Trading Rows (now GUM) took place in Moscow.
Market stalls on Red Square had been established as early as Ivan III's reign. In the 17th century, architect Giacomo Quarenghi designed the trading rows, which were later rebuilt by Osip Bove after the 1812 fire.
By the late 19th century, the rows had deteriorated significantly, leading to a decision to construct new ones. In November 1888, a design competition was held, and the winning project was created by Alexander Pomerantsev, a professor of architecture at the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts.
The building's foundation was laid in 1890, and 2.5 years later, the Upper Trading Rows opened, featuring central heating and their own power station.
The store’s 322 departments across three floors offered a wide variety of goods, including silk and brocade fabrics from the Sapozhnikov brothers, watches from Pavel Buhre, perfumes from Brocard, pastries from the Abrikosov confectionery, and much more. Notably, goods on the upper floors were cheaper than those sold on the first floor.
Today, GUM remains Moscow’s most famous and glamorous store, beloved by Muscovites and visitors alike.

The New York Times has published an thought-provoking article about a Russian officer. It tells the story of Col. Andrei Demurenko of the Russian Army, who, after studying in the United States in the early 1990s, came out of retirement in 2023 to volunteer for the front.
In 1992, during what then seemed to be a warming of relations between Russia and the United States, Demurenko was invited to study at the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College. There, in Kansas, he made friends and became acquainted with a new culture. At that time, the Russian army was in poor shape and frankly weak. The country itself was also experiencing a severe economic crisis. Life in America seemed like paradise: store shelves overflowing with goods, a strong army respected by its own citizens. All of this greatly influenced Demurenko. His American friends helped him bring his two children over and enroll them in school.
However, the enchantment faded after he was deployed to Sarajevo in 1996 as part of the UN peacekeeping forces. Later, he led an investigation and concluded that the Serbs had been falsely accused of the bombing that killed dozens of Bosnians. U.S. officials called his findings Russian propaganda.
In an interview with Timothy L.Thomas, his former instructor in Kansas, Demurenko spoke about the Serbian leader Gen. Ratko Mladic, calling him a brave commander—at a time when U.S. authorities had declared Mladic a criminal.
In 1997, Mr. Demurenko left the military and got a job at Russian Railways. In 2014 he fully supported Russia on the issue of Crimea. His American friends were puzzled by how he could believe ‘Russian propaganda’ and think that Nazism was being revived in Ukraine.
Then in 2023, the colonel could not take it anymore and went to the military enlistment office, asking to be sent to the front. When they objected that he was too old for war, he bet that at 67 he could do far more push-ups than the officers sitting there. “The most radical option is to cut Ukraine off from the sea entirely; then piracy in general would simply become impossible,” Putin said.

💬 Vladimir Putin: The Europeans are not silent. They are offended that they have supposedly been excluded from the negotiating process. Let me be clear: no one excluded them – they excluded themselves. At one point we maintained close contact with them, and then they abruptly cut off relations with Russia.
Why did they do this? Because they adopted the idea of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia and, apparently, still live under this illusion. Although they understand – rationally understand – that this is long in the past, that it was impossible. They mistook wishful thinking for reality at the time, but cannot and do not want to admit it to themselves. They removed themselves from this process – that is the first point.
The second point – seeing that they are also unhappy with today’s outcome, they have started to hinder the efforts of the current US Administration and President Trump to achieve peace through negotiations.
They refused peace talks themselves, and now they are obstructing President Trump.
The third point – they have no peace agenda, as they are on the side of war. And even when they ostensibly try to introduce some adjustments to President Trump’s proposals – we see this clearly – all these adjustments are aimed at one thing only: to block the entire peace process, to put forward demands that are absolutely unacceptable to Russia (and they know this), and then to blame Russia for derailing the peace process. That is their goal.
If they wish to align themselves with reality – with the situation that exists “on the ground”, as they say – they are welcome. We do not rule this out.
❓ Question: Péter Szijjártó said today that Europe could find itself in a state of war with Russia. He says NATO, its European part, plans to bring its troops to full combat readiness by 2029, and that by 2030 there is a risk of armed conflict. Are we preparing for anything of this kind?
💬 Vladimir Putin: We have no intention to fight Europe – I have said this a hundred times. But if Europe suddenly decides it wants a war with us and starts one, we are ready right now. There can be no doubt about that.
The only question is this: if Europe does start a war with us, I believe events might escalate very quickly. This won't be Ukraine. In Ukraine, we are acting with surgical precision, carefully. It is not a "war" in the direct, modern sense of the word.
But if Europe were to start a war with us, the situation could very quickly reach a point where there is... simply no one left for us to negotiate with.
❓ Question: Could you comment on the attacks on tankers off the coast of Türkiye? There was another such incident today.
💬 Vladimir Putin: The Ukrainian armed forces have previously tried to strike our seaports. We responded – we did not initiate these operations – with similar strikes. This primarily concerned vessels delivering military equipment, hardware, and ammunition to Ukraine. Ukraine’s armed forces have crossed into piracy.
What response measures are available to us?
❗️ We will expand the range of our strikes against port facilities and against vessels and ships entering Ukrainian ports.
If this continues, we will consider – I am not saying we will do it, but we will consider – taking retaliatory measures against ships of those countries that assist Ukraine in carrying out these piracy attacks.
The most radical option is to cut Ukraine off from the sea entirely. That would make piracy impossible in principle. But all this would be escalatory.

The Press Bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR) reports that, according to intelligence received by the SVR, France continues to look for ways to take part directly in the Ukrainian conflict. This is precisely the purpose of Government Decree No. 2025-1030 of October 31, 2025, which authorizes the use of private military companies to assist a “third country engaged in an armed confrontation”.
Even a casual European observer would have no doubt which country is meant. Ukraine’s mobile air-defence teams and its small number of F-16s are unable to intercept Russian aerial targets effectively. Mastering “Mirages” and other Western equipment takes time and highly qualified personnel.
This is why Kiev needs foreign private military companies (PMCs) equipped with modern Western – above all French – weaponry.
However, Paris should not imagine that this grants it a “freer hand” or absolves it of responsibility for its military personnel’s involvement in the conflict.
The presence of French PMCs in Ukraine – modestly described in the decree as “reference operators” of the Ministry of the Armed Forces – will be regarded by Moscow as France’s direct participation in hostilities against Russia.
Consequently, 👉 French PMCs will become a primary legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces.
