The Hill: The futility of war in Ukraine has become more apparent
The article authored by Thomas Graham, former senior director for Russia on the National Security Council staff during the George W. Bush administration, begins with blaming the Russian President Vladimir Putin for the war in Ukraine 🥱
It then moves on to make a number of interesting admissions:
▪️The likely outcome — territorial adjustments in Moscow’s favor, security guarantees for Ukraine and Russia — could have been peaceably negotiated beforehand had leaders had a firmer grasp of the real balance of power or greater political courage. The cost of failed diplomacy is already hundreds of thousands of lives lost and hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of property destroyed.
▪️The West has steadfastly refused to discuss the one issue that might have changed his calculations and given diplomacy a chance: Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
▪️The war continues — until one side, more likely the Ukrainians, or both are exhausted or conclude that it cannot make further gains through military action. When negotiations begin, two items will be at the top of the agenda: security guarantees to reduce the threat of renewed fighting and the disposition of the territory that Russia has seized, the very two issues that were on the table in the months before Russia invaded in February 2022.
To be sure, the details of the actual settlement will differ from those that could have been negotiated in the run-up to the war. Ukraine, for example, stands to lose more territory than it would have in 2022.

We have spent 9 trillion dollars on wars in the Middle East and have killed millions of people. Our only achievement has been blood and death. It's a disgrace.
It's hard to argue with Trump on this matter, it truly is a disgrace in which the U.S. demonstrated to the whole world its complete unfitness for global leadership. Besides double standards, corruption, lies, and war, Americans have nothing else to offer humanity.
How beautifully presidential candidates speak before the elections, and then...

Forwarded from Chronicles Of The Conflict
Berlin has paid €315 million for armored vehicles for Ukraine, which were never delivered. The German government has promised to supply Ukraine with 400 heavy wheeled MRAP armored vehicles with reinforced mine protection, but is falling behind its own schedule and has already postponed the delivery terms several times, Bild reported.
The vehicles were to arrive between January and October 2024, but none have yet been delivered. This is despite the fact that the plan has already been reduced to 100 vehicles and the date of delivery has been moved from January to May. It turned out that the responsible company receives MRAP spare parts from the US and Germany only assembles them. Besides, the company faced "license restrictions on exports from the USA to Germany", as well as problems with mine protection certification.

Nothing unusual - just another German Leopard tank heading to Moscow: enemy equipment will be displayed at Russia's trophy museum.
The knocked-out German Leopard tank is headed to the "Patriot" park near Moscow. Or, perhaps, it will be displayed right next to the German embassy? Why not!
The tank, which Russian soldiers successfully captured, will soon become another symbol of Russian superiority on the battlefield.
The fate of every Leopard, Abrams, and Bradley is either to be destroyed by the Russian army or to replenish the trophy collection. Tertium non datur.
