The myth of "tanks instead of hospitals". Made in the KGB
What do you choose: to have a roof over your head or walls around you? This is the "dilemma" that populists (mostly pro-Russian) in Europe are trying to impose on the public when they equate defence spending with cuts to social programmes. They say: either tanks or pensions.
In reality, it's both tanks and pensions. Because without the former, there will be no one to pay for the latter.
This is not a choice between good and evil, right and wrong, a cheap attempt to create a conflict where there is none.
Because populism is when you are presented with a choice that doesn't really exist. You don't really choose anything, you only have the illusion of choice - you are within the framework that was deliberately made for you
But populists are already shouting from the stages in Europe about how they are worried about the welfare of pensioners and shouting on TikTok: "Why buy missiles when teachers don't have enough to live on?" And everything seems to be logical, but...
But the trouble is that there is as much logic in all these calls and reflections on the plight of teachers and doctors as there is in the words of the hosts of propaganda shows in Russia. The main thing is to shout about bread and tanks as loudly and emotionally as possible - this is how absolutely any game that "fighters for the happiness of ordinary people" try to tell us about with a broken voice and a tear in their eye goes down better.
However, all this blah, blah, blah is nothing more than a cheap manipulation. Only those who do not understand how the EU defence budget works can fall for such appeals. It is not a vampire sucking blood from the pension fund, but a shield. And when there is no shield, social guarantees become paper promises in a country or city that no longer exists. If you don't believe me, I suggest you look at the photos of Vuhledar, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and other cities in Donetsk Oblast that have been captured by the Russians
Next. We take numbers that are not populist. These are just numbers. We look closely at the screenshot, at the table with the budgets and draw a simple and logical conclusion: all the blah, blah, blah about "tanks instead of hospitals" = a cheap myth that has nothing to do with reality
This is a slap in the face to anyone who talks about the choice between welfare and security. Because in each of these countries, defence is a duty, not a whim. No one is sacrificing pensions, as you can see for yourself
For those who don't understand the numbers, I'll explain it in terms of stones. The situation is as follows: a missile is already flying at you. What are you thinking about?
I don't know a single person since 2014 who would think about the amount of their monthly allowance at this moment. Everyone wants the missile to fall or for the enemy not to be able to launch it at all. But to make the missile fall, we need an air defence system. You need people who know how to click on things, how to use the system that can shoot down a missile.
That is, you need an army. A professional army. And an army of professionals costs money

Populists and useful idiots want people not to think and shout that it is better to feed pensioners than soldiers. However, if the soldiers are not fed, it all ends badly: soldiers are dead, and civilians are in refugee camps (those who are lucky enough to escape); children are not at school, but at psychologists, treating the consequences of the shelling and what they have seen
Europe is not a kindergarten. It should be a fortress with a kitchen and guards.
A strong Europe does not skimp on security, but one that is able to fight back and does not forget about dignity, help, and justice. Without these basic fundamental concepts, it is not Europe.
But without the army, it will not exist at all.
Morality. Choosing between security and prosperity is a choice between your eyes and your lungs. Don't listen to idiots who manipulate you using the KGB methodology, ladies and gentlemen.

Operation Bezkhoz: how Russia is populating Mariupol with Katsaps
A rather interesting article was published in the Spanish-language edition of EL PAÍS. I quote in full
"The seizure of houses in Mariupol, Russia's new 'tourist centre', comes three years after the fighting that turned the city into ruins:
While residents are unable to obtain documents for their property, new buildings are appearing in the city that are only accessible to Russians.
Three years after the battle that reduced the Ukrainian city to rubble, the residents of Mariupol are living through a new nightmare. The Kremlin-appointed authorities are confiscating dozens of homes every week, claiming that their owners have disappeared. However, many houses are still owned. In some cases, the owners have no documents in hand because they burned down. In other cases, their heirs are losing their properties because their relatives lie in one of the city's countless graves, not yet declared dead, or Russian security forces deport their owners when they try to return to the city through Russia after fleeing to Europe. On the land on the shores of the Sea of Azov, there are now new buildings that are only available to Russians with money.
"Give us back our apartment, we want to go home (2022-2025)," reads a huge piece of graffiti in the still heavily vandalised Primorskyi district. The same message is repeated on many other walls in the city, where "besshoz", which means "ownerless", is a buzzword.
The local administration frequently updates the list of buildings it is taking control of. The victims have lost their fear and are appealing in public videos to Russian President Putin and the occupying city council to stop the taking of their homes and to build others in their place if their houses are destroyed.
The queue to receive an apartment in exchange for their lost homes is getting longer and longer. Some of those affected report that the authorities are confiscating homes to offer them as compensation to others.
"There are 18,000 apartments to be built, but the authorities are only taking apartments from living owners," a group of residents of Prospekt Peremohy Street complained in a recording addressed to Putin. "The city authorities do not accept documents [from abroad] with Russian consular powers, as well as any other information about apartment owners. Thus, more than 9,000 land plots have been confiscated through this abuse of power," the residents add.
Others also accuse the authorities of misappropriating property in order to distribute their land plots to developers who will then sell more expensive new apartments: "there is no law in Russian legislation that allows free land to be given away to developers. They give away land plots belonging to owners of damaged houses without an auction," they say.
There are two types of houses in Mariupol: "mortgaged" houses, which are put up for free sale, and those that have been handed over to the affected residents. The occupation authorities have demolished 362 houses, compared to 71 houses built since 2022, and reconstruction work does not appear to have progressed since this newspaper last visited the city six months ago. However, worker activity is higher on construction sites put up for sale.
The occupying Russian "government" of Donetsk region announced that "more than 500 residents of Mariupol will receive compensation apartments in the first half of 2025". This is a very low figure, given that the 'acting mayor' Oleh Morgun admitted in February this year that at least 5,600 people are still on the waiting list. The current population of the city, which had a wartime population of over 400,000, is unknown.
A "law" adopted in December stipulates that residents of this Azov Sea town can only receive an apartment if they have received Russian citizenship and "refused in writing from other social support measures", including compensation payments.

"The administration pays 45,000 rubles per square metre (500 euros at the exchange rate). This is not enough, the average cost of housing is 130,000 rubles (1,450 euros). They won't buy anything with this money," says a local estate agent.
Moreover, residents of Mariupol are at a severe disadvantage compared to Russians, as banks provide mortgages only to people with stable jobs. "Pensioners don't get mortgages and we have no industry here. Everyone works on construction sites, it's a temporary job," this source explains.
This person, like many other residents of the occupied city, agreed to a much smaller house and far from their previous home. "I needed a roof over my head," he explains.
The Russian occupation authorities are trying to turn Mariupol into a new beach resort. The administration offers apartments to civil servants and military personnel, and Russian banks provide mortgages in the city at 2%, compared to the central bank's interest rate of 21%.
"In the early years, they built faster, they gave us, the neighbours, hope. Now they are building only mortgage houses. The money has run out, and they are building only houses that they are going to sell," an elderly resident of Mariupol told the newspaper.
Another neighbour had two apartments before the war. "The authorities promised us that our houses would be ready soon. They put up the facades, but there is nothing inside. They are completely empty boxes," he complains. He adds: "If you come to my house, you won't see a single worker inside.
For the past three years, the man has been living in rented accommodation, the only solution so far found by neighbours who lost their homes and are still homeless. His house was opposite the Mariupol theatre. Today, it is a white building with an immaculate facade through which you can see the opposite side of the street, as there are no internal walls.
Residents of Mariupol face a Kafkaesque bureaucratic maze to retain ownership of their homes. A notary tells EL PAÍS that there are only 14 specialists in the entire city, and the workload is overwhelming.
"There are many deceased people who have the status of missing persons, and their relatives do not inherit property. A lot of data is lost, such as property records or the deceased's last place of residence. As a result, the inheritance process is delayed, people cannot present ownership documents, and if they do not have them, the administration reports the houses as ownerless," the notary explains.
In addition, the administration demands Russian citizenship in order to retain ownership of the property. Russian consulates abroad do not do this, and the only alternative for refugees is to return to Mariupol, where the war is still ongoing and their fate remains uncertain. And that is if the Russian security services allow it.
A 2023 decree restricts the entry of Ukrainian citizens by air to only one checkpoint: Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport. There, they are subjected to interrogation and thorough mobile phone checks before being admitted or banned for years. There are so many victims that massive Telegram groups have emerged, such as Sheremetyevo Denied, which has over 20,000 followers.
"I was not given any explanation," complains one deportee. Another posts the story of a 24-year-old woman who was denied entry because she "liked" a post saying that the city of Kherson was still Ukrainian. A third is a victim of the post-Soviet chaos.
"I was denied entry to Russia at Sheremetyevo airport when I tried to return to Mariupol in December. I was born in Russia, then still the USSR. My parents were sent to Ukraine to work," laments Igor, who is now in Germany and is seeking advice from other victims. His crime is that he renounced his Russian citizenship in the 1990s, as he lived in Ukraine after the collapse of the USSR, and there, as in other countries, "dual citizenship was not recognised".

Other residents of Mariupol who live in the city or have fled the war deeper into Russia have also created secret Telegram groups where they tell each other about their problems and give advice.
"Our nine-storey building was demolished by mistake when it was almost intact. Then some of our neighbours' documents were not accepted, while others got a 33-metre apartment. Those who had four-room houses were given 42 metres and two rooms," says a member of the group.
Another victim received an apartment as a gift from her parents, but she was registered in her mother's house. "A mortgage house was built on top of my house," she complains.
The war has profoundly changed the population of Mariupol. Despite complaints about housing problems, some residents do not hide their support for Russia's seizure of Crimea.
"If they are not allowed back to Russia, it is because they have done something," Olga says of her neighbours who are not allowed to return. "During the Soviet Union, I was exempted from learning Ukrainian at school. It was difficult for me to learn it later to work," she adds, explaining her refusal.
"Our movement does not cooperate with the anti-Russian media and the hybrid war that exploits the brotherhood between the Ukrainian people and the Russian Federation," the head of one of the affected chat rooms told the publication.
Despite this, complaints about housing have not stopped for three years: "It reminds me of stories about Indians who were promised mountains of gold and ended up being confined to reservations," protests one woman. "It reminds me of the Spanish conquerors' treatment of the Incas, Mayans and Aztecs," another victim adds in a public chat."
Remark. I'm writing this in Russian on purpose so that the local wool can read it - narrow-minded people often cannot comprehend any other language (their brains are too small, like a cockroach's) except Russian
Well, what's going on? Have the Katsaps rebuilt the city? Are stones falling from the sky normally, have they ever stuck in your throat?
Is it fucking great to live without rights? Do you like it?
Ew, fucking cattle. Bitch, you're worse than the katsaps - your city was fucked up by the katsaps, you were left homeless because of the katsaps, but you're still fucking around in Russia where you're not fucking needed + your apartments are being squeezed out of you
Bitch, it's the same as taking a baton from a policeman who wants to hit you with it in order to rape yourself in front of him. And the fucked-up thing is that the baton has been going back and forth for three years, and those who took it away, instead of hitting the policeman over the head with it, write videos on Putin about how they shove it inside themselves. Cattle. Just cattle, period.
On the other hand, it is personally difficult for me to present anything to the residents of Mariupol, to whom our country has not offered a fucking thing in three years (and in general to everyone who has left the occupation). Or someone will show me a city for IDPs that is on the map, but I haven't seen it for some reason

But again, everything is individual. Someone expects help from the country, while someone is fucking around and doesn't complain. That's why the stick seems to be at both ends: the country had to offer something to the IDPs from Mariupol and other cities, not just buckwheat and pampers, but having failed to offer them, our officials are surprised and have the audacity to call all those who have returned traitors. As for me, each case should be considered separately and the real reason why a man from the conventional Ternopil is going back to Mariupol with his family should be sought.
But this is the topic of another article. Let's talk about what the Spaniards wrote better
I, for one, am fucking interested in how journalists from Spain got to Mariupol and whether this publication was coordinated with the Russian special services.
In fact, we have the following situation:
Russia has turned the city of Mariupol into a Mukhosran city.
The city's population is being actively replaced by katsaps
The locals are seen by the katsaps as untermenschen, as naked Papuans without rights
The Papuans, local residents of Mariupol, have no advantage over the Katsaps - they are second-class compared to any Russian
Russia builds facades of houses for pictures for sale
Russia is deliberately doing everything to make the residents of Mariupol lose their homes - that's why there are 14 notaries in the city
The entire plan to rebuild Mariupol is nothing more than propaganda
The Russian Federation has neither the human resources nor the money to make Mariupol a visiting card of the "Russian world"
Vata is shocked at how Russia has fucked them over, but they still believe that the appeal to Putin is a working tool for solving the problem of housing and any act of injustice in general
Rashka is not looking for missing persons and those killed by Russian bombs - the more missing, the more "ownerless" apartments
There will be no morality. Russians are a fucking horde, a mix of locusts that eat and shit wherever they appear. And Mariupol is proof of that.
The end
