Next. Agent devyatkin, born in russia, moved to Lappeenranta in 2012 and earned a doctorate in ecology. He now works as an environmental impact assessment manager at a major Finnish forestry company. But this doesn’t stop him from lying awake at night worrying about whether someone might dare to dislike pushkin or fail to respond in fluent dostoevsky-speak when cursed at in Helsinki.
The failed “politician” admitted after the scandal that he had known in advance about his removal from the candidate lists. Poor little russian boy (or oppressed victim?), as he really wanted to focus on ensuring students (but only russian-speaking ones) would stay in Lappeenranta after finishing their studies.
Comrade vanya also told Finnish media that he understands the reasons behind the decision but—quoting him here—“On the other hand, I would like to discuss and understand what I did wrong and what values I violated.”
Let’s take a moment to appreciate vanya’s audacity: this is a man who proudly displays the St. George ribbon (a symbol of russian militarism) on his Facebook page yet claims he “doesn’t understand” what he did wrong.
And don’t miss the sheer incompetence of our chekist friend. How deeply “spiritual” must one be to misspell the name of the city where you’re supposedly running for office—on your own personal website? A masterpiece of amateur hour.
Now for the big reveal: why devyatkin isn’t just an activist but a planted russian agent in Finland.
Devyatkin is one of the founders of the “Alexander Union,” a group advocating for reopening the eastern border and loudly championing the “rights” of russians on foreign soil.
In his russian-language posts, devyatkin writes about how Lappeenranta, as part of Eastern Finland, is suffering from a severe economic crisis. He accuses local authorities of making “suicidal decisions” that weaken the region. He constantly harps on the themes of “growing racism, discrimination, and hatred” toward russian speakers and people of foreign origin in Finland.
On July 1, after Finland signed a defense agreement with the USA (DCA), devyatkin declared that Finland had “officially become the 51st state of the USA” and lost its independence (sound familiar? Thought so). He compared the situation to the Cuban Missile Crisis, claiming that Finland had created unprecedented tensions by allowing American soldiers and weapons on its territory. According to him, the agreement places U.S. soldiers above Finnish law, which in turn “threatens the country’s sovereignty.”
In an Ilta-Sanomat interview, devyatkin avoided answering whether he supported Finland joining NATO, calling it “too big a question for municipal elections.” He also dodged the question of whether russia’s aggression against Ukraine was justified, instead shifting the focus to his candidacy.
In August 2024, devyatkin declared on Instagram that sanctions against russia were ineffective (translation: time to lift them, of course). He argued that sanctions don’t harm the russian elite but instead hit “ordinary citizens” hard (hello, Kara-Murza) and claimed that these measures were “killing Eastern Finland” by damaging its economy.

And Now, a Touch of Bipolar Propaganda
Devyatkin claims that his sole connection to russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is correspondence regarding border closures on behalf of the “Alexander Union.” This implies that the russian MFA acknowledges the existence of such an organization as a tool for addressing issues outside russia.
At the same time, devyatkin denies any ties to russian embassy officials. However, he does admit to helping russian-speaking pensioners in Lappeenranta organize their pensions from russia. Now, ask yourself: how can an ordinary civilian, with no official authority or legal qualifications, resolve pension issues for russian-speaking retirees without even being in russia? Exactly.
Oh, and let’s not forget. Devyatkin was among those who initiated and lobbied for replacing Swedish language studies with russian in Finnish schools starting from the 7th grade. This circus act took place in 2012, if memory serves, and included municipalities like Tohmajärvi, Imatra, Puumala, Mikkeli, Savonlinna, and—naturally—Lappeenranta, a city just 15 km from the russian border.
Epilogue. To me, this is a wake-up call for Finland—they narrowly avoided having a chekist in office, even if only in a local parliament (or whatever they call it there). And no, this isn’t paranoia. The recent scandal involving an openly pro-russian candidate for Romania’s presidency, Gheorghescu, should be a clear warning for any country that doesn’t want russian agents in power.
So far, Finland is doing a commendable job of neutralizing russian influence within its borders—unlike Hungary or Slovakia.
Let’s see what kind of circus unfolds in Germany’s elections—that promises to be quite the brawl.
The End.

Agent vanya.
