12 OCTOBER, 2003: Ferrari and Michael Schumacher make F1 history at the final race of the season in Japan. Starting from P14, Schumacher needed a P8 finish to guarantee a record sixth driversβ title, with Kimi Raikkonen still in with a chance of overhauling him. Schumacher overcame two collisions to take that P8, rewriting the record books, having gone to the full limits of his powers of determination and concentration. It was Rubens Barrichello who took the race win, killing off Raikkonenβs title hopes and helping to clinch a fifth straight constructorsβ title for Ferrari - another F1 record ππͺπ
