LAMG є еволюцією концепції легкої модульної системи Stoner 63, розробленою Юджином Стонером ще у 1967 році. Вони постачалися у війська та флот під індексами M63 та Mk 23.

The KAC LAMG (Light Assault Machine Gun) has been manufactured by Knight's Armament Company since 2018. It is characterized by its light weight of 3.9 kilograms. For comparison, the M249 weighs 6.85 kilograms (with a standard stock) or 6.56 kilograms in the PARA version.
The LAMG is an evolution of the Stoner 63 light modular system concept developed by Eugene Stoner back in 1967. They were supplied to the army and navy under the M63 and Mk 23 designations.
