Cathedral Rock West Virginia

I have to say cathedral rocks seem to be all over the states. Even those that discovered this rock mass in the mid 19th century are enamored by the sight of this rock.

First hand accounts write:

"There is the grand portal, with its pointed arch, from whose shadowy re- cesses we may presently expect to hear the organ pealing, and the anthem of chanting priests. There is the heaven-piercing spire, with its pinnacles, finials, turrets, traceries, and all the requisite architectural enrichments, from which anon will ring out the sweet and solemn chimes, calling the world to prayer. There too, sharply traced by sunlight and shadow, are the Gothic oriels and double-arched windows, suggestive of stained-glass pictures, only visible from the interior.

Cathedral Rock. note the details, and comprehend the general effect of the mass, we are troubled with a strange sense of incredulity, a distrust of our senses, even a certain flushing of resent-ment, as if some imposition were practised upon us. All that we have heretoforeseen and wondered at has not quite prepared us to accept this literally. Can this bereality, or is it only a stony nightmare superinduced by a surfeit of rocks ? Yet, thereit stands, in motionless and silent majesty, a vast minster of the Gothic ages, growingmore and more marvellous as we scrutinize its carven details, and estimate its sublime IN WEST VIRGINIA"

What I found interesting was the stain glass only visible from the inside, just what? Are these people betrayed by their own eyes and logic or cataloging the remains of architecture amist Americas topography?

I agree, but can't believe that God's Kingdom is only meant spiritually. It manifested physically right at Creation through Eden/Paradise. Paradise is "heaven on earth" and that's where eternity will play out for the righteous: on earth, because that's the habitat God created for man. After all, He promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that their descendants will inherit the LAND for eternity. Not in heaven, but on earth. And the goal was always that earth would be a place where heavenly principles would reign, just like Yeshua taught us to pray: "on earth as it is in heaven".

Box with Romance Scenes, elephant ivory, France. 1310-30.

This coffret illustrated with scenes from Arthurian and other courtly literature of the Middle Ages is one of the most imposing examples to survive. The lid represents the assault on the metaphorical fortress, Castle of Love, with a tournament and knights catapulting roses. The left end depicts Tristan and Isolde spied upon by King Mark, and a hunter killing a unicorn trapped by a virgin. The right end shows a knight rescuing a lady from the Wildman (Wodehouse), and Galahad receiving the key to the castle of maidens. At the back are Lancelot and the lion, Lancelot crossing the sword bridge, Gawain asleep on the magic bed, and the maidens welcoming their deliverer. The newly discovered front panel, lost since before 1800, is a poignant depiction of the love tragedy of Pyramus and Thisbe and Aristotle teaching Alexander the Great and Phyllis riding on the back of Aristotle.

Pair of Protomes Depicting the Forepart of a Griffin, Greek, 625-575 BCE

A mythical creature revered for its protective powers, the griffin combined a feline body, an avian head, and tall, horse-like ears. It has been argued that the beaked Protoceratops that once roamed Central Asia were the iconographic inspiration for these ferocious beasts. Travelers may have seen the fantastic fossilized remains of the dinosaurs and then created stories to account for them. Meanwhile, local inhabitants may have spread tales about their ferocity as a way to discourage marauders from looting their wealth. These two griffins are highly agitated; their mouths are agape and their tongues curl up as they screech bloodcurdling warnings.

If you are referring to the words intellectual integrity, then respectfully I was not aiming at just you we must all use intellectual integrity.

The trick is to understand the meaning of those words.

Anyone that thinks they know something is unfortunately not using intellectual integrity.

To use intellectual integrity is to have enough humility to at least entertain both sides of an argument and to go so far as to experiment till either side can be proven as factual.

And the humility to admit to ourselves that weโ€™ve been lied to all our lives and there for knowing any truths is a challenge and a change onto itself.

But unfortunately to many , if not all of us tend to fiercely defend our positions without intellectual integrity and it creates unnecessary arguments and emotions.

โ€œThe strength or weakness of a society depends more on the level of its spiritual life than on its level of industrialization. Neither a market economy nor even general abundance constitutes the crowning achievement of human life. If a nation's spiritual energies have been exhausted, it will not be saved from collapse by the most perfect government structure or by any industrial development. A tree with a rotten core cannot stand.โ€
