Custodial and non-custodial wallets 🔐
A crypto wallet is a tool for user interaction with the blockchain network. Wallets generate the information needed to use cryptocurrencies.
The components of the crypto wallet are a public key (open to everyone) and a private key (available to the wallet owner).
Custodial wallets: The private key is stored by a third party (custodian) and managed on your behalf.
➕ If you forget or lose the key, it is possible to restore access through the custodian
➖ Your funds can be blocked by the custodian at any time
Non-custodial wallets: The wallet owner has full control over crypto assets.
➕ Your funds cannot be blocked by a third party
➖ If you lose the key (SEED phrase), access to the assets will be irretrievably lost
🔒 Examples of custodial wallets: Combot, account on the centralized exchange
🔏 Examples of non-custodial wallets: EVER Surf, EVER Wallet
