MORE EARTH SHAKING: A tsunami threat was issued for Chile after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the Drake Passage, the body of water separating South America and Antarctica.

The US Geological Survey detected the quake at 4:29pm ET on Friday, initially measuring it at magnitude 7.8 and later revising it to 7.6. It originated at a depth of about nine miles. 

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami alert 19 minutes later, warning that hazardous waves were possible along coasts within about 620 miles of the epicenter, particularly in Chile. 

The threat was canceled around 5:30pm, with the warning saying: 'No tsunami waves higher than 0.3 meters (about one foot) are expected for any coast.

White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff was photographed Saturday visiting an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) base in the northern Gaza Strip as the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas appeared to be holding for a second day. 

The image was obtained exclusively by Fox News. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) leader Adm. Brad Cooper accompanied Witkoff during the visit to the facility.

Thousands of Palestinians were seen returning to their homes in the Gaza Strip Saturday. One image showed a massive column of people moving north along the territory’s coastline, by vehicle and on foot. 

The scenes are emerging after the IDF said in an X post on Friday that its ceasefire agreement is now in effect.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and other Republicans are ditching their weekend fundraising event as the government shutdown drags on, while Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) continues to plan the Democrats’ fundraising vacation in California’s luxurious Napa Valley

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) “Napa Retreat” is reportedly“still on,” despite Gillibrand, the committee chair, suggesting to the Washington Examinerlast week that plans could change if the shutdown continued.

While the invitation for the October 13-14 event lists Sen. Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD) and other “Members of the Democratic Caucus” as hosts alongside Gillibrand, the freshman Maryland senator told the outlet, “I’m not hosting anything.”

“When we have a shutdown, we’re not going to be in Napa Valley,” Alsobrooks said.

Joe Biden is undergoing a new phase of treatment for an aggressive form of cancer that was diagnosed in May, a spokesperson said on Saturday.

"As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment," according to the spokesperson for the former president.

The radiation treatment is expected to span five weeks and marks a new point in his care, the spokesperson said. He has already been taking a pill form of hormone medication, they added.

Last month, Biden also had a skin cancer treatment known as Mohs surgery. A large bandage on his forehead was visible in public appearances at that time.
